Before reading Let’s watch a video, then answer the questions:

1. What are they? 2. Do you like puppet show? 3. What do you need to make a sock puppet?

While reading

Look! What did Grandpa Chen have? Grandpa Chen had a sock. What happened to the sock? It had a big hole in it.

What would Grandpa Chen do with the sock?

(Would he throw it away? Would he mend the hole?)

He would make a sock puppet. Who would help? (Picture 2)

Lee went to get buttons.

What would they do with the buttons?

Grandpa Chen put the buttons on the sock.

Why did Grandpa Chen put the buttons on the sock?

Look! Lee had the sock on his hand.

What is it? (a pen) Who got a pen? Kipper got a red pen.

He painted on the sock.

What’s this? (a hat)

What kind of hat? (a cowboy hat) Who got a hat? (Lin got a cow boy hat.)

What did she do with the hat?

She put the hat on the sock.

Practice: Match and say.(What did they do? Match the person to the action) (Picture 6)

What was the sock like?

Aha, the sock was made into a toy.

The sock was a lot of fun.

The children enjoyed it. But do you know whose sock it is? Look at Mum. What was she doing? (Was she looking for something?)

Mum was looking for her sock. What might she say? “Where is my sock? I cannot see my sock.”

Where was Mum’s sock?

What might they say? “Is this it?” said Lee.

“It’s a sock puppet.” said Kipper.

Everyone laughed. What a good puppet!

Listening and Imitating The first time, just listen. The second time, listen, mark the tones and imitate.

Reading Dramatically T divides them into groups, they can read together or read in roles.

After reading Story Comprehension Task 1: Put the pictures in order. (T puts seven pictures on the blackboard) Task 2: Retell the story according to the key words. Task 3: Make a sock puppet, then say. (T gives each student some materials, ask them to make a sock puppet, them have a puppet show) IV.

Discussion (1)Show the last picture:

Do you like the sock puppet? If your sock had a big hole, what would you do? (2)Show a picture of something made by recycled plastic bottles or paper cups and tell students that we can turn these trash into treasure. Ⅳ.Homework. 1.

Listen to the story and read it skillfully and dramatically. 2.

Make a toy or pen holder out of used bottles or paper cups with your Mum and Dad.
