Teaching Design I. Background information Content: Unit 7 Food Festival
Topic 2 I’m not sure whether I can cook it well.
Section B Teacher: Zhong Xin Description of students: 36 students in senior 2 Lesson duration: 40 minutes Time & date: 9:40 a.m.—10:20 a.m., Monday, 13rd May 2019 II. Teaching concepts According to the National Curriculum, senior teaching aims for educating all the students, and emphasizing quality-oriented education; developing competence-based objectives, and allowing flexibility and adaptability; paying close attention to the learning process, and advocating experiential learning and participation; optimizing learning resources and maximize opportunities for learning and using the language. III. Teaching ideas Based on the teaching concepts and socio-constructivist theory, I adopt PWP to teach students. Pre-listening, while-listening and post-listening, the three stages aim to help students focus their attention and help them comprehend the content step by step. First, I will use some pictures to review what we have learnt last
class and check whether the students know how to make fried rice or not. Second, I will show them a picture to let students predict what they are doing. Then I will ask them what ingredients do we need for a sandwich and after that, the students watch a video to find out what kind of sandwich does Michael make. Third, the teacher will give students the background information of sandwich and some new words so that they will be better prepared to understand what they hear. Forth, I will ask students to listen to the type carefully and fill in the blanks. After that, we will check the answers and read the steps together. And then I will ask students to repeat these steps and I will do as what they said to show them how to make a sandwich by ourselves. Tell them to pay attention to the step words. Then, the teacher will invite someone to tell me how to make a sandwich again. Next, the teacher will guide them summary the dialog again by drawing a snack tree. Then the teacher will give the students a few minutes to make a kind of sandwich by themselves, after that the students are asked to make a report about the sandwich they made in front of the class. It helps students understand the steps better. Finally, the teacher tells the students diligence and creation with hands make life better! And assign the homework. Based on the teaching concepts and teaching ideas, my lesson planning as follow:
