一年级学生年龄小，几乎不具备英语基础，因此，在课堂上不宜讲授过深、过难的内容。但是，低龄儿童具有强烈的好奇心，求知欲和爱玩的心理并存，所以，在教学中应充分考虑到这一点，寓学习于游戏之中，在快乐中获得知识。

本课为人教版一年级起点第一册，适用于一年级学生。本课是该单元第一课时，涉及的教学内容不宜太多、太深。要求学生能听懂、会说并熟练掌握cat, dog, bird, monkey, tiger五种动物的英文说法；教材中出现的chant 作为教学内容的一部分，可以增添课堂的趣味性，使教学达到更好的效果。授课时间为40分钟。
