(一) Warm-up

1. Greetings.

2. Before class, let’s review the tense of these words. (Who can make a sentence by using “playing,flying”) (二)Lead-in

Show a picture and ask “ What’s this?”“What’s he doing?”

He is playing the suona.

T: yes! Today we’ll learn module 5 unit 1 “He is playing the suona, but the phone rings.”

(三)Learn the text

1. Activity 1

Look at Activity 1, what are they doing? Watch this flash, please.

Now practice the chant with your partner.

Read together.

2. Text-learning

The spring is coming. The animals are having a party. And Daming is having a party too. Let’s look at what happens to Daming at the birthday party?

(1)Listen then answer the question:

Q:What is Daming doing at the birthday party?

Daming is playing the suona.

(2) Read and find out the answers. Help each other when learning.

What’s happening when Daming is playing the suona? Check the answers.

Daming is playing the suona ,but the phone rings. Daming is playing the suona again, but the bell rings. Daming is playing the suona for the third time ,but the dog starts to bark very loudly.

Look at these three sentences and pay attention to the word “but”

(3)Learn the pronunciation rules of “ly” and “ar”

①Read together. Ask students to read “loudly” together. Pay attention to “ly”.

②Group work. Find out words with “ly” having the same pronunciation as many as possible.

③Then report. Choose some groups to report.

④Read old words. The teacher shows some old words on PPT and asks students to read together.

⑤Read new words. The teacher gives two to four new words and asks students to read in groups. Then report.

( “ar” is the same as above.)
