Unit 4 At the farm A Let’s talk & Let’s play
1. Teaching aims and demands:
(1)Students can master the key sentence patterns:
Are these carrots?
Yes, they are. / No, they aren’t.
What are these?
They’re tomatoes.
(2)Students can understand the meaning of the dialogues. They can make a new dialogue.
2.Teaching important point:
General and special questions form and their answers. 3.Teaching difficult point: Translations.
4.Teaching preparation: Cards of the vegetables,
VCD.
5.Moral education and emotion attitude:
Farmers are very busy, so we must respect their labours.
Vegetables are good for your health, eat them more.
6.Teaching steps:
(1)Warm up:
Greetings .
Revise the four learned words.(show me your picture)
(2)Leading in: What’s this? It’s a tomato.(blackboard)
Ask and answer. (I ask you , you ask her)
(3)Presentation:
(Let’s talk)
a. Today we go to the farm with Sarah and Mike. (topic of the unit)
Play the VCR of“A Let’s talk”. Students watch carefully and find your answer: pl. form of the special question.
b. Ask one student come to the blackboard, change the sentence. What are these ? They’re tomatoes. (stress on the pronunciation of “these”) Practice it.
c. Show a tomato, and ask , Is it an apple? No, it isn’t.
Practice the sentence and Play the VCR again.
Students find the answer: pl. form of the general question.
Ask a student come to the front, change the sentence.
d. Practice the sentence and underline the key sentences.
Keep notes of the four sentences.
e. Discuss the translations of the dialogue.
Report your answers in groups and do imitation practice.
(4)Practice: (Let’s play)
Act out the dialogue. (5)Blackboard

Reflection: 反思,本节课的重难点已经讲解清楚,但是练习还是有点少,应该让
学生拿着自己绘画作品再进行些口语练习。再做一些德育渗透,多吃蔬菜,体会
农民伯伯的辛苦。
