ESL Support Group 

Warm-up 1: to review colors and numbers 

Play a true/false game to review colours. 

Students stand up when the sentence is true and sit down when it is false. 

Point to, e.g. a green object in the classroom, and say It’s red. Students don’t stand.

Point to, e.g. three pencils in the classroom, and say There are three. Students stand up. 

Repeat for other colours/numbers in the room. Make somesentences true and some false.

Warm-up 2: CD of SM Level 1 ~ Searchlight 

Invite students to come up in turn. 

The player listens to the recording and moves the searchlight to find the correct color and clicks it. Presentation: classroom objects 

Hold up each flashcard/physical objects in turn. Say the word for students to repeat in chorus. 

Do this three or four times. 

Hold up each flashcard for students to say the word in chorus. 

Stick the flashcards on the board. Practice 1: PPT 

Play the PPT - Classroom objects. 

Students look at the picture in each slide and say the name accordingly. Practice 2: Listen, look and say. 

Students look at the picture in their Student’s Books P10. 

Play the recording. 

Students point to the objects and the words when they hear them. 

Play the recording. Students repeat the words. 

Students practice pointing and naming in pairs. Practice 3:Touching Game 

Ask three or four students to stand in front of the board. 

Say a classroom objects. 

Student players point to the correct flashcard as quickly as they can. 

The first student who points at the correct flashcard is winner. 

Point at that flashcard for students to say the word in chorus. 

Play this game for all the 9 words. Practice 4: Listen and match. 

Play the CD of Presentation Plus ~ Unit 1 ~ Page 10-1 ~ Activity 2: Listen and match

Play the recording one by one.

Ask individual student to click the correct object to match accordingly.

Check the answers as a whole.

Practice 5: Guessing Game 

Students volunteer to play this game. 

Cover the player’s eyes. 

Give a physical classroom object to the player and let him/her to touch and feel, and say the name of it. 

The player can get one point if he/she says the correct English name of the object. Presentation: Listen and chant 

Elicit which character students can see running in the picture (Flash). 

Play the recording. Students listen and follow the chant in their Student’s Books.

Play the recording again, pausing after each verse for students to repeat. 

Do the chant as a class and then in groups. 

Students put the objects, e.g. pen and pencil case, on their desks. 

Students do the chant again, holding up the relevant objects when they say them. Practice 1: Speaking 

Introduce the sentence structure of It’s a/an … . 

Set an example. 

Students work in pairs to talk about the objects on their desk.

Practice 2: Listen and sing ~ School Supplies Song 

Play the video. 

Students sing along with it. 105: Most of them knew some classroom objects already. Today they learn some 教学反思

new things. Notebook is difficult for them, especially the pronunciations. Reflection

106: They knew most of the words; June is very good in the class. But some students should pay attention in the class.
