Unit 5

You look excited. I. Teaching aims

1.Knowledge objects:

a. Enable the students to remember the following new words &phrases:

Fail,someone,feeling,joke,by the way,usual,exam,strict,shy,take it easy.

b. Get the students to be familiar with this sentence pattern:

---Hello,you look worried. Anything wrong?

-- It’s Li Hong. She is so unhappy.

---I’m sorry to hear that.What seems to be the problem? ---

c. To grasp the main idea of reading and use the information to finish some exercise.

2.Ability objects:

a. Help them to understand the dialogue better and develop the students’ ability of listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills.

b. To train the students’ ability of working in pairs.

c. Train them with some effective methods to optimize students’ learning results.

d. Make them understand the articles about introduce their information.

3.Moral object :

a. Arouse their interest in learning English.

b. Help them to develop themselves.

c. Enable the students to do the exercise. Ⅱ. Teaching focus and difficulties

1.To master the sentence pattern “Look! who is he?”, “Where is he from?”

2.To recognize and understand those new sentences.

3.Are able to use the new words and phases to express themselves.

4.To get the ability of general reading and getting information Ⅲ.Teaching methods

1.Communicative teaching method.

2.Task-based teaching method. In this topic, teacher will use “Task-based teaching method” and “Communicative teaching method”. Let the students get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue. Design some tasks to help students learn the new words and sentence pattern. Use pair work and group work are good ideas to improve the students oral English. Let the students be the masters of the class teaching. Thus, student-centered teaching method is well shown.

Step 1. Leading in

Show some pictures of a girl.She is crying. And ask the students “what’s wrong with her?”

(This activity make students be interested in this English lesson)

Step 2. Presentation The key words preview :show the new words and explain them, and teach them how to remember this new words. Then enter the language point, introduce those new words.

Step 3. Practice and enhance

1.Listening. Let the students listen a short conversation ,and mark T or F. (This activity make students practice those verbs of frequency. )

2. Free talk (look and talk)

Let the students talk about 1a by themselves, then show the pictures of boys and girls . Ask them what’s wrong with her? , answer me one by one. (Practice the students’ oral English and use those new words .)

3.Role-play

Student A is the interviewer. Student B is Katrina. Then change roles. Student B is the interviewer and student A is Bill.Just like this:

Interviewer: How are you feeling today ?

Katrina:I am feeling happy.

.

Interviewer: How are you feeling today ? Katrina;I am feeling sad.

Start from group one, then group two, three and four.

Continue the play, change another sentence pattern,

Interviewer: How are you feeling today ? Katrina;I am feeling excited.

Interviewer:

How are you feeling today ? Katrina;I am feeling unhappy.

This time start from group five.

Ask group six read the next conversation, then group seven and the last group.

Step 4. Expand

Do some exercises.

2.Reading.

Let students read an article about new lesson.

Step 5. Moral education

Tell them the importance of staying in good spirits.

Step 6. Summary and homework.
