Unit 7 Sightseeing in Korea Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I am Jessie. It’s my great honor to be here to share my teaching plan with you. The lesson which I am going to interpret is the dialog from SuperKids 4 Unit 7. This unit is about the kids go sightseeing in Korea. I will explain how to teach and the reason for doing this from the following aspects: I. Analysis of the teaching content. II. Ways of teaching and learning. III. Teaching procedures. IV. Blackboard design. Part 1 Analysis of teaching content.

It can be divided into 3 parts as following: the status and the function, the teaching aims, the important points and difficult points. I will talk about them one by one.

1. Teaching content:

This lesson is the second period of this unit. It includes four dialogs. And in the first period, we have learnt more than ten verb phrases about sightseeing. It’s not difficult for them to understand the meaning. So, for this lesson, I set the following aims: 2. Teaching aims 1) Aims on the knowledge: ①To make sure that students can read and understand the four dialogs and act at last.

② To help Ss know what we can do when we go sightseeing. 2) Aims on the abilities: ① To develop Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking. ② To train the Ss’ abilities of working in groups. 3) Aims on the emotion:

1) To foster Ss’ consciousness of good co-operation and proper competition. 2) To encourage Ss can express confidently. 3. The important points and difficult points 1) To make sure that Ss can express the date correctly. 2) To make sure that Ss can express the third person singular form correctly. 3) To develop Ss’ interest in English. Part 2 Way of teaching and learning.

As we all know, the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate pupils’

basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson I’ll mainly use“Task-based”

teaching method. In this lesson, I will divide them into two groups. And prepare two paper planes, if they finish the task, they can go sightseeing in different countries by plane. At last, who gets to the country first, who is the winner. And in this lesson, words cards, CAI will be needed.

Part 3 Teaching procedures.

I’ll finish this lesson in 7 steps. Step 1 Lead in.

Review the phrases in this unit. Put the picture of go sightseeing at last. Then ask Ss: Do you want to go sightseeing?

At the same time, write the word sightseeing on the board. Then ask: Which country do you want to go? Let them choose, then put the flags of the two countries on the board. Tell them today we have two groups. If you are good, you can go sightseeing by plane. Purpose: Give them the topic, and

it is very important to stimulate Ss’

interest and enthusiasm. Step 2 Presentation for the title. Show them some pictures about Korea. Let Ss answer a question:Where

are the SuperKids? Guide Ss answer: They are in Korea. Then write the title on the board and let them read: Unit 7 Sightseeing in Korea Purpose: Let Ss think themselves. And make sure that they know what we will talk about in this lesson. Step 3 Presentation for Dialog 1. Show the PPT, and ask : Where is Peter? Guide Ss answer: He is in a park. Teacher says: Yes, he is in a park. And he has a new friend. (Mark the new friend on the PPT and write new friend on the board.) And then let Ss guess what do they want to do? Teacher do action to help Ss answer: They want to take a picture.(Write take a picture on the board.) And they ask a girl for help. Then let Ss listen and repeat the dialog. Purpose: Make a situation. According to ask and answer the questions, present the dialog naturally. Practice for Dialog 1: 1. Read in big groups. 2. Read in rows. (The first three rows and the last three rows.) 3. The teacher gives an example with a top student. Then ask several Ss to act out the dialog on the stage. Purpose of practice one and two is to make sure Ss can read the dialog correctly and be familiar with it. And the third is to let them know how to use this dialog in a true situation. Step 4 Presentation for Dialog 2 Show the PPT and describe there is a boat in the park. So what we can do? Guide Ss say we can

take a boat ride. And at the same time write the phrase on the board. Then the teacher describes: Mrs. Hall and Chip want to take a boat ride. But how about Toni? Does she want to take a boat ride. Then let Ss

listen and find out the answer. After listening, they will give the correct answer, and then have them listen again and answer, what does Toni want to do? When they give the right answer, show them the sentence on PPT and write The key words see a show on the board. At last let Ss listen and repeat. Purpose: It’s mainly training their listening and speaking abilities in primary school. Many Ss will make a mistake when the answer the third person singular, it’s a good opportunity to correct and let them memorize it deeply. Practice for Dialog 2: 1. The teacher to be Mrs. Hall, Ss to be Chip. Then exchange. 2. Girls to be Mrs. Hall and boys to be Chip. Then exchange. Purpose of this practice is that, sentences in Dialog 2 is easy to read, so I will spend more time to let them express what they want to say, not just reading the sentences. Step 5 Presentation for Dialog 3 It’s very closely associated with Dialog 2. So I will lead in with Toni wants to see a show. Then show them the PPT about Dialog 3 and let them know Donny wants to see a show, too. Then let them look at the poster of the show on

PPT and answer When is the show? Ss will answer: It’s on July 1st. Write the date on the board. Then let Ss listen: What’s the date today? Then check their answer and write on the board: June 23rd . Then the teacher asks: Can Donny and Toni see the show today? Guide Ss answer: No, they can’t. Write can’t on the board. At last, let them listen and repeat. Purpose: Ss have learnt the date before. Let them listen and answer the date is not difficult. The importance of this part is practice. Practice for Dialog 3:

1. Divide them into three groups, let them read the dialog in turns. 2. Show them the PPT about date. Have Ss work in pairs and check. Purpose of practice is that help students be familiar with how to express the date correctly. To foster Ss’ consciousness of good co-operation Step 6 Presentation of Dialog 4 First, let them look at the picture of Dialog 3. And describe there is a giftshop next to Donny. Have them guess: Who is in the giftshop? Tell a tip: two girls. Sandy and Beth must be answered. As they give the right answer, I will show them the PPT about this dialog, let them listen and answer: What do they want to do? They should answer one by one. So when they answer, I can stress on the third person singular form. And write the key word buy some

souvenirs and go to the aquarium on the board. At last, listen and repeat the dialog. Purpose: In each dialog, I almost let them listen and express what they want to say. I am not afraid they make mistakes, I am afraid of that they all right. Then I am not needed. Listen and answer the sentences in the dialog by themselves, Task-based teaching method is used to develop Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking. Practice for Dialog 4: 1. Read in rows. Divide them into three groups, and read in roles. 2. Show them a PPT, let them work in two to make a new dialog like this. Purpose of this practice is that to cultivate Ss’ creativities and their abilities of co-operation will be well trained . Step 7 Production Show them all the four dialogs on PPT, tell them our order is 4-3-1-2, and have them read together. Then point to all the key words on the board. First,

let them read aloud. Then show the last PPT, it’s a story about the SuperKids go sightseeing in Korea. Let Ss work in groups to choose the key words and fill in the blanks. At last, choose on people in each group to check the answers sentence by sentence. Purpose: Usually, in our dialog lesson, nothing more than listening and repeating the dialog, then act. In this lesson design, I tried something new. The biggest difference is the last production. It’s a dialog lesson, but I summed up with a passage. Hoping to bring you some new ideas.
