Goals of knowledge:

1, Be able to make the students understand and say the new words: “Tree Planting Day、air、place、plant trees、keep the air clean、keep us cool、make the place beautiful”.

2, To make the students understand the sentence: “What can trees do for us?” and use the key structure: “Trees can...” to say the importance of trees. 3, To enable the students to understand and retell the text. Goals of abilities: 1, To train and develop the students’ listening and reading abilities. 2, To improve the students’ ability of working in groups.

3, To enable the students to communicate with others using the target language. Goals of emotion and evaluation: 1, To foster the students’ consciousness of good cooperation and proper competition.

2, To improve the students’ interest of learning English.

3, To build a good relationship with trees. Teaching important points: 1, Master the new words. 2, Be able to use the key structures. Teaching difficult points: 1, The pronunciations of the new words: “plant, place, air and beautiful”.

2, The key structures: “What can trees do for us?” “Trees can…”

Teaching methods: Introductive method, cooperating method, listening and speaking method, game method…

Teaching aids:

Words cards, a young tree, a flowerpot, a computer…

Teaching procedures: Step 1 Warming up Greeting to the new students and sing a song: “ If you’re happy.”

Step 2 Presentation and drill

1. Lead-in T: When I am happy, I want to draw a picture. What are they? S: They are trees. (Learn to read trees)

T: Look, I brought a young tree and a flowerpot for you. What

do you want to do? S: I want to plant trees. (Learn the new phrase “plant trees”)

T: Is planting trees good for us? S: Yes! T: Planting trees is good for us. (Write it on the blackboard) T: In China, people usually plant trees on 12th March. Do you know why? S: Because it is Tree Planting Day! (Read) T: Tree Planting Day in China is on 12th March. (Read) T：Did you plant trees on that day?(询问不同的学生并引出今天的小组竞争环节——为学校种树. T: “Let’s plant trees today! Let’s have a look, which team can plant more trees for our school.”)

2. Learn the new phrases

T: Planting trees is good for us. But what can trees do for us? Let’s look at the pictures and find the answers. (学生通过观察图片引出下列短语：keep us cool, keep the air clean, make the place beautiful. 老师通过全身反应法、观察法、游戏、歌曲等不同的操练方式鼓励学生在愉快的情境中开口朗读，增强朗读意愿。) 3. Chant
