Unit 6 Shopping for a School Party
Background information: Subject:Unit 6 Shopping for a School Party : Sounds and words Lesson duration: 40mins
Purpose:
This course is intended to help the students knowthe“ch” syllable is sounded /tʃ/and know the pronunciation of some words with “ch”.
Objectives:
Students will be able to :
1.
Define - knowthe“ch” syllable is sounded /tʃ/; 2.
Phonics – pronounce the words with “ch” in phonics;
3.
Practice –
read the words with “ch” correctly and do practice about retelling with the words. Teaching contents: Unit 6 Shopping for a School Party : Sounds and words:ch /tʃ/ : child, China, chair, chips, cheese, chicken
Resources/Materials:
1. Textbook 2. Handout 3. Word cards 4. Phonics book 5. CD-ROM of the textbook 6. PPT, Microphone and blackboard
The fifth period 一、Teaching procedure:
Step One:Warming up
1.
Sing the chant about “How much” :
How much, how much,
How much is that box? Fifty dollars, fifty dollars.
I don’t want that box.
How much, how much,
How much are those socks? They’re three dollars.
Hey, that’s cheap!
I want to buy those socks. 2.
Greetings and dialogues Step Two:Review 1.
Know the “How much” and practice the pronunciation of “ch” and “much”
2.
Play a shooting game. Students raise their hands and do the actions like holding a gun. When they see the “ch” and “much” ,they should read it out and shoot it.
3.
Practice the words with “ch” that they have learned before: beach, peach, teach, lunch, touch, watch Step Three: Presentation 1.
Find the rules that ch sounds /tʃ/ 2.
Practice the chant with /tʃ/ with the old words:
ch
/ tʃ / / tʃ / beach, peach, teach 3.
Introduce a new friend and find his new name: March

Tell a story about March to know the new words with “ch”:
child, China, chair, chips, cheese, chicken
5.
Practice the syllable “ch” with some chants:
“ch
/ tʃ // tʃ / child, child likes China.”
“March is
watching on a chair, watching on a chair.”
“He likes to eat,
chips and cheese.”
“ch / tʃ // tʃ / chicken, March touches chicken. March touches chicken.”
6.
Conclude the words with the story and conclude that ch sounds /tʃ/ .
Step Four: Extension 1.Phonics fun: practice more words with “ch”.
2.Look at a video about phonics and practice the phonics book in each group.
Step Five: Consolidation 1.Listen and read the six new words we learn today:child, China, chair, chips, cheese, chicken. 2.Conclude that “ch” sounds /tʃ/.
3.Play a game : beat the words with the word card/ hold on the word card when you hear the word. 4.Listen write and read : Someone is knocking at the door. May I come in? Sure. May I have some ps? Yes, please. May I have some cken? Of course. May I have some
se? Yes, please. Thank you. You are a good ld. What do you want? I want a ... big kiss. 5.Check the answers: chips, chicken, cheese, child
6.Read the dialogue of Page 73 7.Retell the story of March and try to fill in the blanks. Step Six : Homework 1. Fill in the blanks about the story of March .
