Story:The ugly duckling

(Part 1 of the Story)

Mother Duck: I like spring. It is warm. Leaves grow and grow. Flowers bloom and bloom. Birds are singing. Fish are swimming. I am making a nest. Narrator: It is warm in spring. Mother Duck is making a nest. She has three eggs.

Egg 1: We are small. Egg 2: We are green. Egg 3: We are Mother Duck’s babies.

Narrator:The eggs are in the nest. They are green and small. They are Mother Duck’s babies.

Narrator: Now there are four eggs in the nest. The fourth egg is big and white.

Narrator: Mother Duck comes back. She sits on the nest. She hatches her babies. She always hatches, she never moves.

Mother Duck: Babies, babies, come out, come out.

Narrator: Four weeks later, the eggs open. Mother Duck is happy.

Mother Duck: Oh, my lovely babies! I love you!

Narrator: Mother Duck sees four ducklings. Three ducklings are yellow and lovely. One duckling is big and grey. He is ugly.

Narrator: Mother Duck feeds her babies with small worms. The big grey duckling eats all of them.

Mother Duck: Here are some worms.

Three ducklings: No! We don’t like them.

The ugly duckling: I like worms. Yummy, yummy!

Three ducklings: Mummy. He eats all of them.

Narrator: Mother Duck swims in the pond. The yellow ducklings sit on her back. The ugly duckling is too heavy, so he swims behind them. Mother Duck: Let’s go swimming in the pond. Come and sit on my back. D/U: All right.

Mother D uck: Oh, you ugly duckling. You’re too heavy. Please swim behind us. The ugly duckling: Oh, no. I’m sad.

Narrator: The three ducklings often play together. They are happy. The ugly duckling is sad and lonely. The ugly duckling swims away. He does not want to stay with them.
