3B Module3 Unit2 The ant and the grasshopper

Teaching Aims: 1. To let the students master the new words ‘collect, grasshopper, delicious, useful’, and the sentences ‘What do you like doing in____? I like____.’, and catching the meaning of ‘No pains, no gains.’.

2. To have the students able to indicate things they like doing freely.

3. To have the students able to ask and answer about things they like doing correctly.

4. To cultivate students’ habit of reading.

Main Points: 1.To master the new words ‘collect, grasshopper, delicious, useful’, and the sentences ‘What do you like doing in ____? I like ____.’.

2. To have the students able to indicate things they like doing freely.

Story

(Part A)

In the forest, there are two good friends. They’re Mr Ant and Mr Grasshopper. It is spring. Mr Ant is working hard. But Mr Grasshopper isn’t.

Ant: I like collecting rocks in spring. I want to make a new house. I’m busy. What do you like doing in spring, Mr Grasshopper?

Grasshopper: I like sleeping. Look at the grass. It’s green and soft. How comfortable! (Part B)

Summer is very hot. The sun shines and shines. Mr Ant is still working hard. But Mr Grasshopper likes singing and dancing.

Ant: I like collecting food in summer. They’re delicious. I need them for winter. What do you like doing in summer, Mr Grasshopper?

Grasshopper: I like summer. I like singing and dancing. I’m so happy!

(Part C)

It is autumn now. The leaves fall and fall. Mr Ant is still busy. But Mr Grasshopper just likes eating.

Ant: I like collecting leaves in autumn. They’re useful. I need them for winter. I can make a fire. What do you like doing in autumn, Mr Grasshopper?

Grasshopper: Look! I have so much food. I like eating. Oh, yummy, yummy!

Winter is coming. It is very cold. The wind blows and blows. Mr Ant is at home. He is happy.

Ant: I like reading at home in winter. Look at the fire. It’s so warm.

(Part E)

But Mr Grasshopper is sad. He is so cold.

Grasshopper: I don’t like winter. Look at the snow. It’s too cold.

(Part F)

Mr Ant finds Mr Grasshopper. He lets him in.

Ant: It’s cold outside. Please come in.

Grasshopper: Thank you.
