Module 5 Unit 1

We went to the Great Wall. Teach aims：Stusents can use the sentence pattern in this Unit fluently.

Step 1

Warmer 1.

Sing the song “Chinese people invented paper for us” together.

Say yes or no. The teacher say some sentences, if it is true, the students say yes, if it isn’t true, the students say no. Step 2

Presentation 1.

The teacher show some photos which were taken during her trip. And describe her trip to them. Use these sentences: I went to Shanghai. I saw so many people in Nanjing Road of Shanghai. I ate many delicious food there. I bought some CDs in the bookshop of Shanghai. I had a good time there. Oh, it’s really wonderful.

The teacher writes the four words on the blackboard, went, ate, saw, and bought. And ask the students to find out their original words. Such as: go – went, eat – ate, see – saw, buy – bought. Then explain to them that some verbs are irregular, while some are regular. Regular verbs only need to add “ed”, but irregular verbs don’t. Every irregular verbs are changed differently.

T: Yesterday Daming and Dongdong had a school trip. Do you want to know where they went? Ok, let’s watch the video. Play the cassette once. Then ask some questions about it. Such as:

Where did Daming and Sam go yesterday? What did they eat yesterday? What did they see yesterday? What did they buy yesterday? 2.

Play the cassette again, and ask they to find out the four words and circle them, and write their original word beside them.

Play the cassette again. This time pause after each sentences and let the students imitate after it. And at the same time ask students to do some gestures to help them to understand the meanings. 4.

The teacher write these sentences on the blackboard.

We saw _____.

We ate ____ and _____. We bought ______. We had a good time. Ask students to try to finish the sentences. And then try to retell the story. Step 4

Task

1.

Do the practice of Activity 3 on page 19. They are allowed to work in groups of two or three. One student points to the picture and the other one say out the sentence. 2.

Try to describe their last school trip according to the sentences on the blackboard. Homework 1.

Listen to the tape for twenty minutes.
