Free talks PPT shows the key sentences for the free talks. The students discuss in groups and then give a free talk to others. Hello./Hi. Good morning./Good afternoon. I’m... This is ... She’s my friend. This is ... He’s my friend too. 2.

Enjoy a song The students listen to the song --- “Rain, rain, go away”

and try to catch the key words in the song. T: What can you hear in this song? Ss: Daddy, Mommy, brother, sister, baby, family... T: This is a song about family. The teacher writes the title of this unit on the blackboard.

Step 2 Presentation and practice 1.

Look and say PPT shows the pictures of Mike’s family. The students try to say who they are. T: Do you want to know Mike’s family? Let’s go and have a look. 2.

Watch and answer The students watch the cartoon of story time and then answer the teacher’s

questions. T: (show the pictures) Who is he?/ Who is she? Ss: He’s Mike’s father. She’s Mike’s mother. He’s Mike’s brother. She’s Mike’s sister. The students read the words and try to spell the words. 3.

Read and repeat Read story time after the tape, imitating the intonation. Then work in groups and choose a way to read. a.

Read without referring to the books. 4.

Think and say The students discuss in groups and answer the questions:

Who is Mike’s father’s father? Who is Mike’s mother’s mother? Ss: He’s Mike’s grandpa. She’s Mike’s grandma.

Step 3 Consolidation and extension 1.

Have a talk The students take out their family photos or pictures and talk about their families in groups. Then give a report in the front. Ss: This is my family.
