Feeling Excited Topic 2

I’m feeling better now.

Section A Ⅰ. Teaching content and analysis This section starts with the expression of emotions. Students also learn to give appropriate suggestions to alleviate bad emotions through various activities. The purpose of this part is to consolidate the language knowledge in Topic1 by listening and speaking training. In addition, this section also helps students learn to empathize and establish correct and positive attitudes and values. Ⅱ.Teaching aims 1.

Knowledge aims：

（1）Learn some new words and phrases: exam, strict, shy, be strict with, take it easy…

（2）Using following sentences to communicate with others. —What does the boy/ girl look like? (feelings)

—He/ She is lonely/ tired/ excited/ angry/ sad/ worried…

—Why does he/she look worried/…?/ What’s wrong with her?

—Because she did badly in the English exam. (reasons) —I think he/she should…(advice)

2. Skill aims:

（1）Be able to understand simple conversations about spirit. （2）Be able to use new phrases, the adverbial clause of reason and expressions to talk about feelings. （3）Be able to describe people’s feelings and problems; try to give others’ advice in different ways.

Emotional aims: (1) Be able to give rational suggestions to those who is in low spirits and help them keep away from negative moods. (2) Express different ideas to develop Ss’ thinking ability and critical consciousness. Ⅲ. The key points and difficult points 1.

Key points：

(1) Be able to use adjectives of describing one’s feeling and mood. (2) Use the adverbial clause of reason masterly. 2．Difficult points：

(1) Be able to describe people’s feelings and problems; try to give advice in different ways.

2. Learn and apply the adverbial clause of reason better by cooperation. V. Teaching aids PPT. VII. Teaching procedures Stage 1：Warming-up 1st: A Video--- Little Prince with a question “What are the little prince feelings in the video?”

Purpose: to get ready for the adjectives about feelings and mood. 2nd : Pictures--Different feelings in the picture to learn and write.

happy, surprised, sad, angry, scared, worried, tired, disappointed Stage 2：Practice 1.

Answer the question “What does the boy/ girl look like?” to use the adjectives together with the verbs from the pictures in activity 2.

Discuss the feeling with the certain reason in each picture. 3.

Practice the key words with “why” and “because” in pairs. 4.

Try to give advice in different ways for the bad mood in the pictures. I think he/she should/can…

Stage 3: Pre – listening 1. Talk about Helen’s and Li Hong’s feelings according to the picture. 2. Predict the reasons that Helen talks about.

Why does she feel lonely? She feels lonely because she has no friends.

Stage4：While - listening Play the tape and check the answers of 1b. Tell the students that the 1st time for feeling and 2nd for reason. Try to catch the key words effectively.

After that, ask the students to discuss the question “What do you think of Li Hong?”

E.g. She is strict with herself! Stage 5：Post- listening 1.

Ask students to retell the passage according to the key words. 2. Ask the students to give some good advice to help Helen to cheer up Li Hong who has some problems and feels bad. Stage 6：Talking

We students also have some different feelings and mood about some daily activities such as the exam. Students try do describe the different feelings towards the exam. Analyze the possible reasons of each one and give some advice if necessary.

Stage 6：Summary 1. Learn to talk about different feelings. 2. Find the reasons to the problems and give advice to solve them. Feelings from the lesson: Try you best to do what you can do; Good ways to deal with bad mood. Assignment A(基础): Help Helen to finish the card with proper words in 3 (p10); B(提高): Suppose you are Helen, write back to Li Hong to share your feelings now; C(拓展): What do you think of exams and friends in our school life? Write down your ideas.
