Teaching Aims: 1. Knowledge and ability:

(1) Listening and understanding the dialog; reading the dialog in correct pronunciation, intonation and word groups; role-playing the dialog (2 ) listening, speaking, reading and writing: Where does he work? He works at sea. How does he go to work? He works on a boat.

(3) Be able to ask and answer where sb works and how to work by using where does he work?/How does he go to work? (4) Be able to read and understand: stay healthy, work hard, study hard 2. Emotion and attitude: Enjoying learning English, willing to study hard and stay healthy, loving the nature, speaking or yelling English at any time, wanting to have a try about task activities 3. Process and method: listening, observing, experiencing, taking part in, co-operating, working in groups

Important and difficult points:

(1) to ask and answer where sb works and how to work

(2) to understand and say stay healthy, work hard, study hard (3) to talk about where sb works and how to work in a real or created situation using the sentences in the dialog Teaching aids: pictures, ppt, tape Teaching procedures: Step 1: Warm-up 1. Free talk (talk about Career Day) T: What does your mother do?

S1: She is a ….

T: Is your mother a…? S1: Yes, she is./ No, she isn’t.

2. sharp eyes (1) Flash these words by the ppt: factory worker, postman, businessman, police officer, taxi driver, writer, dancer, cleaner, football player have Ss read them quickly one by one. (2) Free talk between Ss.

What does ….do? Is your mother a…? Step 2: Presentation and practice 1 .Let’s try

(1)T: (shows a person whose body is covered on the screen) who’s this person? Is it a man or a woman? S1…

T: Xiao Yu and Mike are talking about him on their way home. Now listen and circle. Guide the Ss to use the clues on their books. Then have Ss read the questions on page 50. Play the tape, have Ss listen and circle. (2)T: What have you known from the dialog?

Shows the key words on the screen and have Ss say what they have learnt.

2. Let’s talk (1) Talk about the picture on the screen. Shows the picture of Let’s talk on page 50. Presents key sentences that the students said on the screen. (2) Listen and tick. Play the tape and have Ss listen and tick.

(3) Ask and answer.
