Teaching matertials: PPT, CD ROM, Flashcards, animals’ stickers, Real objects: a box, dolls, a pencil, an eraser, a ruler, 四.
Teaching procedure: Step 1: Greeting T: Good morning/afternoon, boys and girls. Ss: Good morning/afternoon. Ms Wang. T: How are you? Ss: I’m fine, thank you.
Step 2: Warm up -Play the song: Stand up. Instruct the students to sing the song with TPRs.
Step 3: Revision -Use PPT to show pictures of a window, a book, a pencil, a ruler, and a pencil case. -Encourage the students to look and say: It’s a …
Step 4: Presentation -Show several pieces of puzzles: a dog, a panda, a cat, a monkey, a monster, and a kite. -Instruct the students to guess and ask: Is it a ___? -Use TPR to teach each word and sentence. Focus on the phonics.
Step 5: Practice: Look, ask and answer -Show different animals’ flashcards and ask: Is it a ____?
Instruct the students to answer: Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t. accordingly. -Use PPT to present pictures: a caryon, a kite, a bear, a white cat, and a red bag. -Ask: Is it a ___? -Encourage the students to respond with a full sentence. Step 6: Listen and answer -Show a picture of Daming and Sam.
T: Daming and Sam are craying. Let’s watch a video to see what’s happening?
-Instruct the students to watch the video.
-Ask: What did Daming and Sam see in the video. Is it a dog/monkey/monster? -Play the video again and ask the students to answer: No, it isn’t. It’s a kite. Step 7: Listen, repeat and imitate. -Play the video. Instruct the students to repeat each sentence with TPRs. -Ask the students to open their books to page 38. Instruct them point and repeat the dialogue. Step 8: Listen and circle
-Play the audion. Instruct the students to listen the dialogue and circle the sentence with ‘Is it a…?’
-Check the answer together. Step 9: Guessing Game -Take out and box, and put something in the box prior to the class. For example: dolls, a pencil, an eraser, a ruler, etc. -Encourage the students to use the sentence: Is it a …? To guess what’s in the box. If they are right, take out the object and say: Yes, it is. If they are wrong, then say: No, it isn’t. -Encourage the students to guess and invite them come to the front, look and answer. 五.

The key points of this class is to encourage the students to ask and answer: Is it a …? Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t. So I need provide more opportunities to let students to talk more. b.
