本节课为该话题的第一节课，建议用1课时上完。主要活动为1a和3a。

本话题以骑自行车旅行为核心内容，引出骑自行车的好处，接下来进一步讲述了交通安全和交通规则。最后出现的两篇关于自行车比赛的文章，呼应本单元的标题并巩固本话题的重点语法。本话题的主要语法是由if 引导的条件状语从句。在Section A 的1a中，通过Kangkang, Michael 和Darren 谈论一起亲眼所见的交通事故，引出交通安全方面的话题，列举骑自行车的好处，并呈现if引导的条件状语从句的用法。

Introduction （8 minutes）

1. Greet the students and get them ready for learning.

2. The teacher asks the students to report the homework. Let the students read the passage about their experiences of getting lost. 3. The teacher lets the students make a survey in groups: Unit6. Topic3. Section A 1

(1) How do you usually go to school? (2) Why do you go to school by/on …?

4. The teacher lets the students from different groups report the results of the survey. 5. The teacher makes a summary and leads to the new lesson: Most of us go to school by bike, and Kangkang, Michael, Jane and Darren also like riding bikes to school. Now let’s look at the picture of 1a and guess: what are they talking about?

Step 2

Presentation (10minutes) 1. The teacher plays the flash of 1a. Ask the students to watch the flash to know about the general meaning of the conversation, and then check the guess. 2. The teacher plays the flash again and asks the students to underline the new words. 3. The teacher asks two students to tell the new words. Teach the new words passenger and pollution by showing the pictures of the passengers and the environmental pollution.Teach the new words: anywhere

4. The teacher lets the students read the sentences of 1b and understand the general ideas. 5. The teacher plays the recording of 1a and lets the students listen carefully, and then mark T or F.

Consolidation

(10 minutes) 1. The teacher plays the recording sentence by sentence. 2. The teacher plays the recording without stopping. 3. The teacher asks the students to learn in groups to find out the difficult points in the conversation. At last let them sum up the main points of the conversation. 4. The teacher makes a summary to explain the key points and difficult points to the students: (1) get/ be used to (doing) sth. (2) be afraid of (doing) sth.

(3) If people obey the traffic rules, there will be fewer accidents.

Practice (10 minutes) 1. The teacher asks the students to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of riding bikes in groups.

3. The teacher asks the students to read the sentences of 2.

4. The teacher plays the recording of 2 sentence by sentence. Ask the students to listen and fill in the blanks. 5. The teacher plays the recording of 2 without stopping. Ask the students to listen again and check their answers. 6. The teacher lets two or three students give their answers. 7. The teacher lets the students talk about the reasons for more people in China using bicycles. Let them know about more advantages of using bicycles. Tell the students that we should produce less waste and learn to protect our environment.

Step5

Production (7minutes) 1. The teacher asks the students to observe the pictures of 3 a carefully and understand the meanings based on the given words. 2. The teacher asks the students to talk about the pictures in groups and complete the sentences. Teach the new word rider by adding –(e)r behind the word ride.

3. The teacher asks three students to give their answers.

4. The teacher asks the students from different groups to report the story to the whole class.

5. The teacher shows the pictures of some traffic accidents. Tell them that they must be careful on the way to school and on their way home, and the safety must come first.

6. The teacher shows the summary to the students. 7. The teacher assigns homework: (1) Review the summary after class. (2) Ask the students to give some advice on how to prevent traffic accidents.
