Part1. Background Analysis （一）Analysis of Teaching Content: This dialogue is mainly about Yang Ling who is trying on some nice clothes and her Mum who is giving her praise. It is related to our natural life so that our students will be interested in it. （二）Analysis of Students: The students of Grade3 are active, imaginative and creative. They like to do things with their hands, bodies and minds. It’s necessary for us to organize some hands-on activities for children to do. Due to their short attention span, try to use many short and simple activities instead of one long activity. It is common sense that if an activity is enjoyable, it will be memorable. Part2. Teaching Aims and learning objectives （一）Aims on Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to: 1.

Part6. Teaching Procedure: Step1. Warming-up 1. Enjoy a song.(PPT)

2. Greetings. 3. Play a game: What’s in my nice bag? The game goes like this: The teacher holds a nice bag in one hand and asks the students to guess “What’s in the nice bag?” Chinese is OK when they try to guess. By showing the pictures of the clothes and the pictures of Yang Ling and Yang Ling’s Mum, the new words are presented. The new sentences “Look at me!”

& “It’s nice.”

are also naturally presented here. [Purpose]

Our students are active and curious. They will be eager to guessing the things in the bag. This guessing game will motivate them a lot. Moreover, it prepares well for learning the dialogue. Step2. Lead-in 1. Show the nice clothes and learn the new sentence pattern: Look at my…

By showing some nice clothes, the teacher teaches the new sentence pattern “Look at my ...”. Then, ask some students to show their nice clothes they’re wearing, the new sentence pattern is consolidated.

2. Play a bomb game. (PPT) Rules: If the students see some pictures, say these sentences loudly: “Look at my T-shirt.”, “Look at my skirt.” & “Look at my cap.”. If they see a “bomb”, shout “bomb” quickly. [Purpose] Children do not often have a clear purpose for learning. They learn perhaps simply because they are happy and enjoy the activities. Games always help a lot, and this bomb game also helps the students be more familiar with the new words and sentences. Step3. Presentation and practice 1. Watch and circle. (PPT)

Let the students watch the cartoon and circle the clothes Yang Ling is trying on. [Purpose] Students like watching cartoons. It can vividly present the whole story and the students can understand it easily. “Task-based teaching method”

is used here. Due to the need of circling the correct answers on their paper, they will be more concentrated.

2. Listen and tick. (PPT)

Listen to the tape, and tick the sentences Mum praises Yang Ling.

[Purpose] After watching the cartoon, the students can understand what they hear easily. At the same time, the students can know “How to give praise” preliminarily. 3. Read and order the sentences Mum says. (PPT)

[Purpose] By ordering the sentences Mum says, the students will know better “How to give praise?”. To practise reading the dialogue, kinds of ways are used here and the students will not feel bored. In order to finish the task of ordering, they will be more concentrated.

4. Listen and repeat. (PPT)

[Purpose]

To remind the students of paying attention to their pronunciations and intonations. That will prepares well for reading by themselves. 5. Read by yourselves with actions. (PPT) [Purpose] Children like to do things with their hands, bodies and minds. It’s really necessary to organize some hands-on activities for children to do. Don’t forget to ask the students to use their voice and actions to colour this dialogue. 6. Act with the teacher.

The children try to act the dialogue out with the teacher . [Purpose] Here the teacher isn’t the leader or organizer, but a participant. Students will be joyful to work with the teacher.

7. Try to read and act in pairs. (PPT) [Purpose] “Cooperative learning method”

is used here. The students enjoy working in pairs, it can help to reduce the difficulty of acting the dialogue out. Children who are good at learning English will help children who does not do well in English.

Try to show your nice clothes in your groups using the new sentences presented. [Purpose] Group work is necessary. From this activity, students will learn to use what they have learned. 2.

Praise makes one more confident. To give praise, we can use the following sentences: It’s nice.

How nice! It’s great.

Great! When someone gives you praise, don’t forget to say “Thank you!”. [Purpose] Aims on Emotion are showed here. Children will learn to be polite. That is important for them. Step5. Conclusion and assessment(PPT)
