Knowledge objectives:

1. Students can listen, say, recognize and write these key words: by plane, by train, by taxi, by subway, by bus, by ship and on foot.

2. Students can ask someone his subjects on a certain day using the sentence pattern “ How do you get to _____ from _____ ? By _____ .”

Ability objective:

Students can understand and say the chant.

Affection objective:

By learning the new phrases, students can figure out which is the best way for them. Teaching key points and difficulties:

Step 1. Warming up:

1.Greetings .

Hello. Welcome to our class.

2.Sing a song: Where is the hospital?

3. Free talk.

T: Is there a science museum in your city?

S: Yes, there is.

T: Where is the science museum?

T: How do you get there? By car or on foot? (配合动作)

So today we’ll talk about the ways.

Step2. Presentation and practice:

1. Teach the new phrase--- by plane.

Look! This is a picture of G20 member states. Do you know them? They will visit Hangzhou. Let’s help them to choose a way to get there. OK?

2. Teach the new phrase--- by train.

Our chairman Mr. Xi is in Beijing now. He doesn’t want to get to Hangzhou by plane. So he can get there by train.

3.Teach the new phrase---by taxi.

The summit meeting of G20 is held in the Olympic stadium in Hangzhou. President Obama lives far. How does he get there? Let me call him.

T: President Obama, how do you get there?

O: By taxi.

4.Teach the new phrase---by subway.

Big cities have the subway. It’s long and fast. It always runs under the ground. 5.Teach the new phrase--- by bus.

President Putin lives near the Olympic stadium. How does he get there? Who can ask him?

S: President Putin, how do you get there?

P: By bus.

6. Teach the new phrase---by ship.

Hooray! Mr. Xi sends me an e-mail and invites me to Hangzhou. He says,

But now I’m in Zhoushan Islands for holiday. How do I get there?

7. Teach the new phrase---on foot.

Now everybody is in front of the Olympic stadium. Let’s walk into the door.

8. Listen and repeat. Role- play.

9. Let’s chant.

Foot, foot, on foot.

Bus, bus, by bus.

Ship, ship, by ship.

Train, train, by train.

Plane, plane, by plane.

Taxi, taxi, by taxi.

Subway, subway, by subway.

Step3 .Consolidation and extension:

1. Show a picture of Shanghai and Beijing. Then draw an arrow from Shanghai to Beijing. Ask students to fill in the blanks. Then work in pairs.

2. Write and say.

Choose the cards and make the sentences in pairs.
