feelings. Teaching procedure : Stage I. Pre-reading :

Step 1 :Play a game :

There are some lucky numbers. Students can choose one , and then they will see or hear something. After that , they should describe their feelings.

During this game, I will show students some new phrases, such as , fill with, be crowded with and so on. Stage II. While-reading :

Step 2: Have a competition

Compete to write down the words that can express feelings

or moods in one minute.

After that, teacher will give some other words, such as annoying, satisfied ,desperate and so on. Step 3 : Skimming :

Read 1a quickly and find out the topic sentence in each paragraph. P1:_________________________________________________ P2:_________________________________________________ P3:_________________________________________________ P4:_________________________________________________

Then tell students a reading skill: Topic sentences can help us understand a passage better. Step 4 : Scanning:

Read 1a again and answer the questions. (1)How does the girl feel when seeing the full moon?

Why? (2)What does the man feel when he lives in a big city ? Why? (3)What colors can make the girl feel confident ? Then tell students a reading skill: Key words can help us find out the answers quickly. Step 5 : Careful-reading:

Read 1a carefully and complete the table. Step 6 : Group work :Retell

Choose one thing that can affect your feelings and retell it according to the mind map. Then choose some students to have a show.

Step 7 : Group work

Let students discuss in groups about the following questions:

(1)What else can affect your feelings? (2)How can they affect?

(3)How do you deal with your bad feelings? Stage III. Post-reading : Write down a short passage about how things can affect your feelings. Step 7 : Sharing time

Choose some students to share their passage in the class. Let students write down some beautiful phrases and sentences. Make a conclusion:

It is very important for us to be in a good mood. If we are in good spirits, we can study or work better. So we must learn to take care of ourselves and stay in a good mood. Homework :

Think about what you do when you feel bad, and then write a short passage according to the mind map.

Reflection

This class is a reading class.

I want to further develop students’ reading skills and make them talk about some things that can affect feelings. Meanwhile, I want to make sure students can write a short passage about how things affect feelings.

In order to achieve these objectives, I set many tasks. Before reading, I let students play a game to arouse their interest. And then, I give them a competition to let them write down the words about feelings which are related to this passage. During reading, I give students six different tasks to achieve my objectives. After reading, I let students write down a short passage about how things can affect feelings

according to the mind map. Every task is useful and meaningful.Through these tasks ,students can easily improve their reading abilities.What’s more, I have given enough input,so students can easily master what they have learned in the class. So this class is successful. Besides , I think I need to think more and rethink more. To be a professional English teacher, I need to read books more,not only read some English books, but also some extracurricular books. I need to expand my horizon. In a word, I need to practice more, think more and read more to make my class more professional and more beautiful!
