Unit 5 My Favorite Activities

Teaching Key Points: 1. the present simple tense

Teaching Contents: the V ocabulary , Bonus and Target in Unit 5 Teaching Aims:

1.the Ss can tell others their hobbies and how often they do these activities.

2. review how to put the original verbs into –ing forms

3. review how to put the single countable nouns, which end by consonant add “y” , into pl. forms.

Teaching Difficult Points: 1. Very often. Not very often.

2. the sound of twice

3. the present simple tense

Teaching Material: computer, VCD

Teaching Procedures:

I. Warm up

T: What’s the weather like today?... What are you going to do?... What do you like doing?...

II. Presentation:

1. By reviewing the verbs and verb phrases, present the title of Unit 5 and

teach “activities”, then summarize how to put the single countable nouns, which end by consonant add “y” , into pl. forms.

2.present hike

1) reviewing the verb phrases(let Ss speak out them)

2) present hiking,give out like, which has the same vowel [ai], and let Ss try to learn this new word. Invite Ss to read it.

3. summarize how to put the original verbs into the –ing forms.(lead the Ss try to memorize the knowledge, then the T sum up)

4. present once, twice, three times

1) Well, I like fishing. I usually go fishing. I go fishing three times a week. Then the whole class read it.

2) And what do you like doing? In this way, present then new sentence pattern “How often do you go …?” And then once, and twice.

Then let Ss read the sentences, in groups, two by two, or individuals 3) Explain “Very often.”“Not very often.”

By presenting “I like apples very much.”, lead the Ss to think about what they mean.

4) Ask and answer in group : Practice 2

3. Group work: tell your partners about your favorite activities.
