Robin and the Ant

Teaching Content: Unit 6 Part C Read and write. Teaching aims: Knowledge Objectives：

(1)Students can understand and master the new words:ant /stuck /mud/ pull /everyone. (2)Students can master the general idea and some information of the story. (3)Students can able to read the story aloud and write some key words and sentences. Ability Objectives:

(1)Students can get the general idea by fast reading and specific information by careful reading. (2)students can read and write some key words and sentences. Emotion Objectives:

(1) Students can understand the consciousness of cooperation. (2)Students are ready to help others. Analysis of the students: Students in Grade 6 already have a basic command of English. They have mastered a certain vocabulary. They can read and unde

rstand this story by themselves. It can help students improve

their ability of reading and will lay the foundation for future

learning in junior high school. Key and difficult points:

(1)Guide students to master some new words. (2)Guide students to master some reading skills. (3)Guide students to use the mind map to retell the story. Teaching methods:

Language is used for communication. To cultivate the students’

abilities of reading and speaking, and to arouse their interest, I’ll mainly use the following teaching methods in this lesson: ①

Task-based method. Discussing method. Teaching aids: Pictures,cards and PPT. Procedures: Step Ⅰ Warm-up

Greet students. Step Ⅱ Lead-in Create some situations in which different people have different feelings and ask students to say the key words. eg. happy, angry, sad, afraid,worried

Step Ⅲ Pre-reading

Ask students to predict what the story is about. What’s the story about? ②Communicative method. ③

A. It’s about Robin and the ant. B. It’s about Robin's family . Students look at the picture and title .Then they can give the answer.

Step Ⅳ While-reading 1.

Fast- reading

Let students read the story quickly and answer the question: What does the story tell us?

A. We should always be nice to each other. B. We shouldn’t hurt ants.

Students use one minute to read the story fast and then give the answer. 2. Careful- reading

Let students read paragraphs 1~3 carefully and answer the following questions. Students have 1 min to read .

Question1 What’s the weather like on the first day? Question2 Who is there? Question3 Where are they? Question4 What happened?

Check the answers and finish the mind map. Let students read paragraphs 4~6 carefully and answer the follo

3. Dialogue extending.

(1)Robin is going to sit on the grass ,the little ant is afraid. If you were the little ant ,what would you say to Robin ?

(2)When Robin is out of the mud, what may Robin say to the little ant?

Step Ⅴ Post-reading 1.

Let students retell the story. Retell the story
