Unit 5 Pass me a hamburger, please

(Listen and say)

Good morning/afternoon, everyone! I’m very glad to stand here to share my Teaching plan. Today my topic is “Pass me a hamburger, please.”(Listen and say). I’m going to introduce my lesson from following parts: the analysis of teaching material and students, teaching aims, teaching key points and difficult points, teaching procedure, and so on. I. Analysis of teaching material

Firstly, let’s focus on the analysis of teaching material.

This lesson is the first part of unit 5 from Fun of English Book 5, the topic of this lesson is about ordering some food to eat. As it is the foundation of the unit, in this lesson, students can get some names of food: hamburger, bread sandwich, and hot dogs. Then, they can also master the new sentence structures: Pass me a hamburger, please. Give me a sandwich, please. II. Analysis of students

Then, I would like to talk about the students. My students are in Grade 5. They are active and curious, would like to join different form of activities. However, they can keep their attention on the class for a long time. According to this situation, I will arrange various kinds of teaching activities to arouse their learning interests and train their listening and speaking activities. III. Analysis of teaching aims

Based on the New Curriculum Standard and the analysis of teaching material and students, I set the teaching aims from three dimensions, Knowledge aim, ability aim and emotional aim. Knowledge aim: students can master the new words: hamburger, bread sandwich, and hot dogs. Then, the new sentence structures: Pass me a hamburger, please. Give me a sandwich, please. Ability aim: students can use the new knowledge to ordering food in daily life. Emotional aims: students would like to communicate with other in English. IV. Analysis of teaching key and difficult points

The key point of this lesson is students can understand the meaning of the new word with the help of picture and master the usage of sentence structure. V. Analysis of teaching and study methods

In order to realize the teaching aims, I mainly use communicative teaching approach, task-based teaching method and situational teaching method, role-play and pair-work.

VI. Analysis of teaching aids:

In order to attract students’ attention, I would use some Pictures, PPT, and tape recorder. VII. Analysis of the teaching procedures

Next part is about teaching procedures. This lesson will be presented by four steps. Step One warming-up

At the beginning of the class, I’ll greeting with my students, and then sing a song together with them, “Ten little Indians”.

By singing a song, students can pay their attention on our class quickly, and their interests in learning English can be better aroused. Step Two Presentation

Then, I’ll ask students “what kind of food do you like best?” after asking some students to answer my questions, I’ll show some pictures about the new words “hamburger, bread, sandwich and hot dogs”. After learning the new words, I’ll ask students “If you want to have the food, how can you speak in English? Do you want to know?” Then, I’ll present the new sentence structure “Pass me a hamburger, please”.

The purpose of this design aims to let students get the meaning of the new word and sentences easily and vividly. By asking the questions, students will be eager to know the new content of this class, and the pictures will help students master the new words in concrete situation. After learning the new words and sentences, I’ll ask students to listen to the tape and try to find “How many people are there in the conversation? What are they?” Then listen to tape once again and try to get “what do Sandy and Shelley want to have? Does Sandy want some milk?”

After two times of listening, students will better understand the content of this lesson, meanwhile, their listening ability can be better improved. Step Three Consolidation

In this step, I’ll ask students to do a role-play, one students act as a customer and the other act as a waiter to order something to eat. In this situation, students will be eager to communicate with their partner, have more confidence in expressing themselves. Step Four summary and homework

At last, I’ll review what we have learnt today by asking questions and ask students to make a conversation on the topic of this class with their parents. The purpose of this design is to help students do a summary and improve their speaking ability further. VIII . Blackboard Design
