What Do They Have on the Farm?

Teaching Aims:

Knowledge aims:

Students can listen, understand some words of “let’s talk”. Students can listen, read and speak “let’s talk” correctly. Ability aim:

After practising, students can use “What are your... and...?”to talk about occupations of other’s family members and can use “What do they have on the farm?” to ask other people. Emotional aim:

Students can get more interests in caring about little animals. Teaching Key Points:

1. Words: farm, pig, horse, duck, hen,sheep,cow

2. Target language: What are your... and...?

Teaching Difficult Points:

1. How to make the pronunciation and intonation correctly?

2. How to get students to use the sentence patterns to describe their occupations and farms?

Teaching Procedures:

Step 1:Review and Lead-in

1.Greeting and dividing students into two groups, give every group some word cards and ask some questions adout “what do you have? We have a horse, a pig....”

2.Teacher asks some questions like this:

T: What is your father? What is your mother? What are your father and mother? What are they?

S1: They are.... (give him/her a duck)

Teacher changes father into grandpa and change mother into grandma to ask students again.

Step 2:Presentation and practice

(1). Show ppt about “Let’s learn” and say: My grandpa is a farmer. My grandma is a farmer, too. They are farmers.They have a small farm. Look at the screen. What do they have on the farm?T /S: They have many animals on the farm. A horse, a cow, a hen, two ducks,four pigs and three sheep.

(2) Show cards of ducks and say that “Look! I have some ducks. Do you have ducks? Then ask one group that “What do they have?”

(3) Let students watch the video about “Let’s talk” three times

and answer some questions. Who is a farmer? And What do they have on the farm?

(4) Let students listen to the radio and follow it to practice the dialogue. To play a role play game.

(5) Show p ictures of “Let’s talk”and let students make a dialogue.

Step 3: Consolidation

Play a “guess game” : Look at the screen and listen to the sounds carefully. T: What do they have on the farm? Then students says two pigs to practice words and sentences.

Step 4: Summary and Homework

Summary: teacher summarize the words and sentences learned in this lesson.

Homework: Ask students to listen to the tape and imitate the dialogues.
