Ⅰ. Material analysis

This section is the first section of this topic. I need 2 periods to finish it. This is the first period. I will know about the man, Craig Kielburger, who set up Free the Children when he was 12. Kangkang, Jane, Michael and Maria will help him to raise money to build a new school in Kenya by holding a food festival. Though the activity, we’ll enhance students’ spirits of helping each other and cooperation. And we’ll learn some basic knowledge of object clauses in this lesson. Ⅱ. Teaching aims Knowledge aims：

1. The students are able to master the words and phrases about preparing for a food festival. 2. The students can know the knowledge of object clauses which guide with “that”.

Skill aims：

1. Be able to listen to the conversations about raising money. 2. Talk about the plans about raising money. 3. Read the conversations fluently. 4. Be able to write a short passage about helping others. Emotional aims：

Let students take part in outdoor activities. Learn to care about others and help the one in need.

Let students talk about what they did when they were 12 years old freely. Then make a summary and show out what the teacher did when he was 12 years old.

Make a introduction of Craig Kielburger by showing the pictures of him to lead to the new lesson. Step 2 Presentation 1.

Make a summary of Craig Kielburger to master the phrase “try one’s best to do sth.” and the new word “task”.

Listen to 1a for the first time and anser the following questions: (1)What will Kangkang do?

(2)What will Michael do?

(3)What will Maria do?

(4)What will Jane do? Then learn more phrases “turn to sb.”, “ get in touch with sb.” and “make a poster”.

Listen and watch the flash of 1a ,then read after the flash. Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation. Try to get the main idea of 1a. Step 3 Consolidation 1.

Let students read 1a by themselves and then finish 1b, mark Ture and False. If the staement is wrong, let students say out the reason.Finsh 1b. 2.

Read 1a again match the information in 1c, pay attention to the form of each sentence. 3.

Learn the basic knowledge of object clauses guide with “ that”. And show two examples. Step 4 Practice 1.

Look at the pictures in 2 and let students discuss what will the food festival be like with their partners. Talk about the pictures after the examples. Then learn the new word “ imagine”.

After learning them, let students do some exercises about the phrases we learnt in this lesson. Step 5 Project 1.
