Project 1.

To learn to use the quantifiers; Teaching aims 2.

To learn to make a dessert and describe in English.

Ⅰ. Warm-up 1.Greeting & Warm-up

Watch a video about food 2.Free Talk Talk in pairs:

(Teach the words: fried, boiled and steamed.)

Ⅱ. Lead-in & Presentation 1. Lead - in T shows a picture of a dessert and lead in today’s top: making a delicious dessert. 2. Self-study 1)Think before learning

Q: What do we need? (Before we learn, let students try to think by themselves first.)

S may show the answers like “a bowl, a spoon, milk, fruit” etc. 2) Try to read the words by themselves.

T shows the list of the things we need to make the dessert, and let students try to identify and read by themselves first.

Mark Teaching procedures

sugar/plain yogurt/ jam/ grapes/ cut-up strawberries 2) Drill(Group work); ①Each student gets a piece of paper with different quantifiers. The students will be the little teachers to teach the words that they get. Then when teacher reads the words, the students who have the paper of the words should read out the words as soon as possible. ②

Brainstorm: each group leader has a chart. The group should work together to fill in the chart and try to think of the suitable words as many as possible.

③Game: “I’m a Chef”

Get the students to work in group to match the containers with the suitable foods. Then talk about the foods with quantifiers.

Steps of making the dessert (Ask students to take out the things they prepared for the dessert.)

Look at the four pictures of the steps and try to say. 3)

Learn the steps one by one and make the dessert step by step.

III. Production Group work Ask students to try to introduce the steps of making dessert with the following sentence patterns:

First, put the yogurt in the bowl. Then, mix in the sugar. Next, mix in the fruit. Finally, eat and enjoy.

Feedback Students liked the activities very much. They chose the proper containers for the food and tried to talk about them with quantifiers. After finishing the activity, they made the dessert by themselves, which they really liked to do. They were very focused on the activities and excited. However, the activities were too much for only one period. The students were focused on the activities and had no enough time to practice the sentence patterns of describing the steps of making a dessert. It will be better to divide the contents planed into two parts and spend more time on each part.
