Writing: A poem Teaching targets:

enable students to have a better understanding of English poems and be able to write about their friends. Teaching difficulty: write poems with rhymes and of feeling. Teaching strategies: learn by reading, discussing, practicing writing and sharing. Teaching procedure:

Step1.Revision

Get students to read the poems on page 89 and help them to revise the main features of poems. Step2.Leading As we know a poem must has a title which covers the whole poem like a tree’s trunk, rhymes which attract people and made the poem musical,

as well as the short and easy language which makes the poem understood easily by many people and helps the poem be passed widely. Now, let’s work together to write our own poems about our friends. Step3. Getting ready for writing.A1 Get students to work in groups of four to describe each member within five words and you’d better to have rhymes at the end of each sentence. Give students help when they need. Get some groups to share their works with others. Step4. A2 Writing.

Ask students to give a title to his or her poem and complete the blank part. If who prefers to write a poem in other topics, it is welcomed. Some students may need help and help them. Step5. Sharing .

Have each group to recommend a member to show his or her poem to the class and the listeners must guess who is A/B/C/D. We can also have a competition to see who is the best poet .

Step6.Summary Value how students behave in class. Step7. Assigning the home-work . Rewrite your poems after class on your notebooks.
