Teaching objectives: 1.

Make students master some new words and useful expressions. 2.

Train students’ ability of speaking. Teaching important points: Make students understand some table manners of western countries. Teaching difficult points: Train students’ ability of listening. Teaching preparations: PPT, cards, a fork, a knife, a spoon. Teaching procedures: Step 1 warm up The teacher sings a song with students. Step2 Presentation 1.

Explain the topic “At Table”

The teacher teaches the pronunciation of the word “ table”

The teacher ask some students to read this topic. 2.

Teacher shows students a card

T: Look! What are they eating now?

S1: beef.

T: How do they eat?

S2: They use the fork and knife to eat.

板书：fork

Knife

3. T: If you want to eat beef, you have to learn how to use the fork and knife.

板书：use

T: Can you use the fork?

S1: I can use the fork

4. T: What can we use the knife to do?

Ss: We can use the knife to cut.

T: Yes, you are right.

板书：cut

5. T: Which hand should we use to take the fork?

Ss: ...

T: Who can show us?

A student shows us how to use fork and knife.

T: Yes, you are right. We should use fork with left hand and use knife with right hand.

The teacher asks some students to read this sentence.

T: OK! Let’s practice.

6. The teacher shows another picture.

T: Look again，What are they doing?

Ss: They are having noodles.

T: How do they eat?

Ss: They are using chopsticks to eat.

7. T: After eating the beef, I feel a little thirsty, I’d like some soup. So, what do I need?

Ss: a spoon

T: Would you please pass me the spoon?

Ss: OK!

板书：pass

Teacher gives students more chances to speak with the sentence pattern “pass me...”

Step 3 Activities

The teacher will show students some cards one by one and ask students to speak out the word as soon as possible. If a student speak out the correct word, teacher will give his/her group a point.

Step 4 Consolidation

1. Read the words on the blackboard two times

2. The teacher speaks Chinese and students speak English.

Step 5 Homework

The teacher asks students to remember some words and check if they remember these words in the form of dictation tomorrow.
