Teaching Procedures I. Warmer 1.

Greetings.

Ss can answer the following questions correctly.

What day is it today?

What’s the date today?

What’s the weather like today?

Free talk.

The teacher asks them some questions about their holiday. Ss try

to introduce and describe them. They can say like this:

I went to... in my holiday.

I can... in my holiday.

I like... in my holiday. 3. Play a game”Simon says”.

Teacher will show them many pictures about verb phrases and Ss say them as quickly as possible. And teacher finds the best student to choose a verb phrase and say it out.Other students will do the actions. II. The presentation of the new material 1.

Lead in the topic.

Mary and Tom are back at school after the holidays. What are they talking about? Ss try to say “Holiday”.

Let students see the pictures about Tom’s holiday.And then they try to

say the phrases: ride a bike,have a picnic,swim in the sea,go hiking. 3. Let students see the pictures about Mary’s holiday.And then they try to say the phrases: meet friends,eat dim sum,go to the cinema. 4. Present the past tense.

Look at Mary and Tom, they finished their holiday life. Please find out verb phrases happened in the past. Ss try to find out them in pairs. The teacher will show a verb table to them just like this: do-did,go-went, eat-ate,meet-met,have-had,ride-rode,swim-swam. 5. According to the main picture, Ss try to ask and answer the following questions: What did Tom do last week?

He ... last week.

What did Mary do last week?

She ... last week. Something more: Let Ss know some time phrases: last Sunday,last month,last year and so on. III.Problem Presupposition 1. Students can’t understand between regular and irregular verbs in the past tense.

They may say the wrong sentence like this:I meet my friends last Sunday. 2.

The teacher sum them up in the form, Ss try to remember them. 3.

Let’s play a memory game to remember the verb table: If I say go,you should say went, the students can play it in groups. IV.Drill 1. Read the verb table together. 2. According to the key sentences, Ss can ask and answer them in pairs. 3. Invite some pairs to show their pair work in front of the class. V. Practice 1.

Make a conversation to talk about the holiday life. A: Hello, Amy. Did you enjoy the holidays? B: Yes, I did. A: What did you do at Chinese New Year? B: I watched TV and ate dumplings.How about you? A: I watched fireworks.
