The topic of this unit is to talk about festivals. After study, the students will be able to use the keys sentences to introduce our Chinese New Year and know more about the differences between Chinese festivals and western festivals. Besides, students will love Chinese traditional festivals more.
Analysis of the Students
Students in Grade 2 are so lovely and curious about new things. Most of them are interested in colorful pictures and rewards. So most of the time, they will pay close attention to teachers. Teaching Aims
1. Knowledge and Ability Aims:
(1)Try to understand and read the words: New Year, Chinese New Year, eat, dumplings. (2)
Learn the target sentences: Happy New Year! We eat dumplings at Chinese New Year. We have firecrackers. (3)Try to talk about Chinese New Year and what we do at Chinese New Year. At the same time, raise the students’ language abilities.

Step 1 Warm-up
1).Greetings. 2).Free talk. 3).Sing a song. “Happy
New Year!”
Step 2 Presentation 1).T: Are you happy? Why? Because New Year is coming. Now look. Show the pictures of New Year. 2).Show the pictures and introduce. We know New Year is in winter. There is a traditional festival in our country. It’s in winter, too.
---“Chinese New Year.” We also call it Spring Festival.
3).Listen and answer.
T: The Smarts visit Daming’s home. Now let’s listen and look what they say at Chinese New Year. 4).Read after the video and learn the target words and phrases. Step 3 Practice

Teaching Reflection In my teaching,I let students listen to the text of the dialogue to let
students to imitate the standard pronunciation and intonation, and develop good reading habits for students. Then I let students try to find out the meaning of the dialogue according to pictures. I also asked students to listen to the voice in the dialogue, students are required to read the talk expressively. Besides, I gave rewards students who are wonderful in class. What’s more, games could arouse students' interest in practicing.
The ultimate aim of learning language is to use language for communication, which requires students to be flexible. Students in Grade2 is limited in the accumulation of vocabulary and sentence, so making dialogues for students have the certain difficulties, but with the guidance of me, students could make some simple dialogues. I think for the students of Grade 2, teachers can do like this:
1. Let the students use the same kind of word to replace the original words in the dialogue. 2. Change the characters in the dialogue. 3. Try to encourage students to make the dialogue richer by adding compliments.
