Unit 4 Feelings

I. Teaching aims:

(A) Knowledge part

1. The pupils learn to use the words: sad, angry, tired, scared.

2. The pupils learn to use: How are you feeling? I’m happy.

(B) Ability part

1. The pupils learn to cooperate with others and communicate with their partners.

2. The pupils can listen to short conversations from the cassette and interpret people’s feelings.

(C) Emotion part

The pupils can get great fun and be more confident from English study.

II. Important and difficult teaching points:

1. The pupils can master the words: sad; angry; tired; scared.

2. The pupils can master the sentences: How are you feeling?

I’m happy.

3．The pupils can listen to short conversations from the cassette and interpret people’s feelings. And draw the children’s faces.

III. Teaching procedures: Step 1 :

Greetings

Play a song: “Happy birthday”.

T: Today is Toby’s birthday , you can say “……” to him ?

S: Happy birthday!

T: Yes, you are great, Let’s read it. “Happy,happy,happy”.

S: Happy, happy, happy.

Teach other words “sad , tired, angry ,scared” one by one.

Then read and mime the feelings. Step 2: Play a game about feelings “What face of feeling is missing?”

Then see Toby’s faces of five feelings.

Then do the listening and filling in the numbers on the textbook in part 1. 1.

Let the pupils listen to the cassette and fill in the numbers. 2.

Listen again and check the answers.

Then do some exercise by listening to the sounds and seeing the pictures. Step 3: Show some situations, let pupils act them out in front of the classroom.

Then do the pair work.

Step 4: Show them the words and corresponding faces. Let some of students match them in the right way. Then play a game “The bombs”.

Then finish part 3 “Draw the children’s faces”

on the textbook.

Step 5: Listen to a song about Toby’s feelings and end the class.
