Talk and write about how to cope with academic pressure with the quoted sentences. 4.

Teaching Procedures: I. Pre-reading activities

1. Have a revision of the text as well as the patterns of giving advice. 2. Analyze the results of a survey. 3. Share students’ own tips for relieving the academic pressure. II. While-reading activities 1.

Read paragraph1 and understand the complex sentence.

2.

Read the first three tips and locate the topic sentences. 3.

Better understand the supporting details with the teacher’s guide.

4.

Supply the missing topic sentences according to the supporting details. III.

Post-reading activities

1. Quote some tips for relieving the academic pressure that work for students from this passage. 2. Share the quotes. 3. Give advice on Frank’s or Mary’s problem using the tips learned. (Optional)

IV. Assignments:

1.

Read the passage again and note down the useful elements (words, expressions or sentences) about how to cope with academic pressure.

2.

Write about five sentences giving advice on either Frank’s problem or Mary’s problem.
