单元语法——didn’t need to do与needn’t have done

need to do sth.
need to be done=need doing需要被做to be watered.
watering.
We need to set off at once.
Does your father need any help?
They don’t need to water flowers any more.
You needn’t finish that work today.
Need he come here?
2.由need引出的一般疑问句,肯定回答常用must或have to;否定答语常用needn’t/don’t have to。
—Need I answer the question? —Yes,you must./Yes,you have to./No,you needn’t./No,you don’t have to ——我需要回答那个问题吗?
三、didn’t need to do与needn’t have done
(1)They didn’t need to do it themselves,so they went home in advance.
(2)There was plenty of time then.He needn’t have hurried.
My room is a mess, but I needn’t clean it before I go out tonight.I can do it in the morning. (2017·

—Did you ask Sophia for help? —I didn’t need to—I managed perfectly well on my own.(2012·大纲全国Ⅱ) 6.
We’ve had a good start, but next, more work needs to be done/doing to achieve the final success. (2012·

(2017·湖北襄阳第五中学高二检测) As an adult,I like nothing better than to sit on the beach reading.Give me a satisfying “beach read” and I’m happy for days. However,I’m sad to say it isn’t really a thing for kids. Most kids would rather take their boards out beyond their parents’ comfort zone than read. And who can blame them? But the truth is that even when kids are on vacation, they need the same sort of relax, and reading time that we adults look forward to.The trick is getting them to sit for 5 or 10 minutes to refresh their bodies and to enjoy the pleasure of reading. Books tend to be kind of heavy and they can get wet or filled with sand and are then pretty much ruined.Book chapters tend to be kind of long.Your child may refuse to read. And if your kids are anything like my daughter, they may hate to close a book in the middle of the chapter. You know what I’m going to say, right? Magazines won’t weigh you down. They can be thrown away if they get wet,and will provide just the right amount of reading for the times when my daughter is ready to sit under the umbrella and cool down for a few minutes.Literary magazines will allow your child to read wonderful fiction paired with beautiful illustrations(插图).Discovery magazines deliver articles on all sorts of topics that will excite and interest your nonfiction lover. So don’t leave the beach read behind when you pack the beach bags.Slip a magazine or two in the pocket of the bag and when your child needs a few minutes of downtime(休息),pull it out and get them to sit for 10 minutes or so.

(2017·宁夏银川第二中学高二检测) I always felt sorry for the people in wheelchairs. Some people, old and weak, cannot get around by themselves.Others seem perfectly healthy, dressed in business suits. But whenever I saw someone in a wheelchair,I only saw a disability, not a person. Then I fainted(晕倒) at Euro Disney due to low blood pressure. This was the first time I had ever fainted, and my parents said that I must rest for a while after First Aid.I agreed to take it easy but,as I stepped towards the door,I saw my dad pushing a wheelchair in my direction.Feeling the color burn my cheeks,I asked him to wheel that thing right back to where he found it. I could not believe this was happening to me.Wheelchairs were fine for other people but not for me,as my father wheeled me out into the main street, people immediately began to treat me differently. Little kids ran in front of me,forcing my father to stop the wheelchair suddenly.Bitterness set in as I was thrown back and forth.“Stupid kids...they have perfectly good legs. Why can’t they watch where they are going?” I thought.People stared down at me,with pity in their eyes. Then they would look away, maybe because they thought the sooner they forgot me the better. “I’m just like you!” I wanted to scream.“The only difference is that you’ve got legs and I have wheels.”
People in wheelchairs are not stupid. They see every look and hear each word.Looking out at the faces,I finally understood:I was once just like them.I treated people in wheelchairs exactly the way they did not want to be treated.I realized it is some of us with two healthy legs who are truly disabled.
