T: Good job, boys and girls. Each of you have a wonderful birthday and you will invite your friends and share your happiness with them. Look! Our friend Cubby also invites his friends to his party. Who are they?

S: SuHai, Mike and Miss Li. 1.Watch and answer : T：They have a great time at the party. After the party , Miss Li and the students are talking about their birthdays . Let’s watch the cartoon and answer :Whose birthdays? What questions does Miss Li ask? 【设计意图：带着问题能让学生认真观看，调动学生学习故事的积极性。整体感知故事内容。】

Step 4 Cultural differences 1.

T: Su Hai is a Chinese girl. Mike is an English boy. What are the differences between Su Hai , Su Yang’s and Mike’s birthdays?

S1: Su Hai and Su Yang have a big dinner with their parents and grandparents. T: Yes. It’s warm and sweet.

S2: Su Hai and Su Yang eat noodles . T: Do you know what does it mean? S2: 长寿

T：Yes. It means we can live a long life. What about Mike? S3: Mike has a party with his friends. 3

T: Great. I think it must be fun. Anything else? S4: He eats a birthday cake. T: Yes. Eating a birthday cake will bring you good luck.

T: Do you spend your birthday like Su Hai or Mike? S5: Su Hai. S6: Mike. T: But now most of the children eat a birthday cake on their birthdays. The difference are not so obvious.
