Ⅰ. Learning material analysis 本模块以Fantasy Literature为话题，旨在通过模块教学，使学生了解Fantasy literature这一文学形式的特点和代表作，并学会如何介绍一本书以及如何写fantasy stories。

READING AND VOCABULARY 是一篇题为The Cat That Vanished的fantasy story。故事选自Philip Pullman的His Dark Materials。通过阅读此短文，学生可以深入理解fantasy story的含义。这一部分还设置了活动，这些活动考查学生对短文的理解程度和对文中词句的掌握程度。

StepⅠ. Free talk & lead-in. Lead in the topic by introducing a fantasy story His Dark Materials

by Philip Pullman, making students get a general idea of the characteristics of a fantasy story. StepⅡ. Reading. 1. Lead in the topic of this period—The Cat That Vanished.

Ask students to look at the photos and answer the questions. 2. Fast-reading: Lead students to analyze the clue and the main idea of the story.

①. Draw a mind map to find out the clue of the story.

②. Ask students to go through the passage. Before it, give students the strategy to quickly find out the main ideas of each paragraph: Pay more attention to the key words.

3. Skimming: Ask students to skim the text and complete Activity 1 on Page 16. 4. Scanning: Ask students to scan the text and find out the main idea of each paragraph.

Step Ⅲ. Appreciate and analyze the text.

1. Ask students to retell the story according to the mind map in a group.
