About the Book: This lesson we will learn a story unit 5 ‘Find a Friend’ from English This Way Book 5.
This period we are going to deal with the story “Find a Friend”. Teaching Aims: 1.
About Content:

Target words: friendly, big and heavy, helpful, clever, beautiful, too small…

About Ability:
① Ss can find out the characteristics of each animal; ② Ss can understand the story with the help of pictures; ③ Ss can use the target sentence structures to ask and answer freely and correctly. 3.
About Emotion: ① Have a correct judgment of our friends; ②
You must think about the good, not just the bad;
Key and Difficult Points: 1.
The words of different characteristics for each animal; 2.
Use the target sentence structure to describe their friends; Teaching Aids: Pictures, Computer, Poster, Loud-speaker, PPT;
Teaching Procedures:
I. Warming-up and Preparation. Warm up: Greet Ss say Hi, I’m Bush!
Have Ss say Hi, (T’s name)!
Model it first and encourage Ss to repeat. And then have Ss greet each other in pairs.
II. Presentation. 1.
Teacher gives some clues, students guess what it is.
My favorite animal is the bee.
It is very cute.
bee It works very hard.
It can give us honey.

Students talk about their favorite animals and tell the reason. T: Today we are going to talk our favorite animals. Question 1: What’s your favorite animal?
Question 2: Why do you like it? (Use teacher’s model)

Present the protagonists of the story. ( Miss Cat & Mr. Dog ) ( Listen to the story and answer ) How many animals? Five animals. Who are they? The dog, cat, elephant, butterfly and turtle. Does Mr. Dog want them to be his friend? No, he doesn’t.

Listen to the story, students find out the advantages and disadvantages of these animals. (elephant, butterfly, turtle)
Fill in the blanks:

III. Practice. 1.

Why does the Dog don’t want turtle to be his friend?
Because the Dog thinks the turtle is too slow to play football.
IV. Production. Critical Thinking: 1. If you can choose an animal to be your friend, which one do you want to choose? And why? S1: I want a dolphin to be my friend, because it is cute. S2: I want a bee to be my friend, because it is helpful. S3: I want a dog to be my friend, because it is honest. S4: I want a giraffe to be my friend, because it is frienly.
