Unit 1 Seasons and Weather
Teaching objectives:
1. (1)Learn the words about seasons: spring, summer, winter, fall
(2)Learn other new words: weather, warm, season, mountain, cold, rain, snow, ground
2. Learn how to describe weather:
—What’s the weather like in spring? —It’s warm.
—How is the weather in fall? —It’s cool.
3. Learn to use superlative forms to express preference about seasons:
—Which season do you like best, spring, summer, fall or winter?
—I liked winter before, but now I like summer best.
Teaching aids: tapes ,blackboard ,chalk ,ppt, picture, white papers
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warming-up(10mins)
1. Warming up the words and do the dictation(3mins)
2. The teacher and students make a conversation about last unit, and introduce the four seasons.(3mins) T: Kangkang had a wonderful party last Sunday. Do you remember when Kangkang was born? S1:He was born in May. T: You are right. He was born in spring. And can you tell me how many seasons there are in a year? Ss: There are four. T: What are they?(Ss can say Chinese) Ss: 春,夏,秋,冬。 T: yes, they are spring ,summer, fall, and winter.
3. The teacher ask the students to draw the one sign of each season, and ask some students “what have they d raw?‟ then the teacher play the flash song about “four season s”, to compete signs of theirs.(4mins)
Step 2 Presentation(15mins)
1.Ask the students to look out the window,(4mins) T:W hat’s season now? Ss: Summer T: Yes. What’s the weather like in summer /How is the weather in winter (explain this sentence)? Is it warm? Ss: No. T: Yes. It ’s summer .What can you do in summer? S1:I can swim. T:Do you like summer?
(translate) Ss:Yes or no The teacher select one student
who say yes ,and ask him or she T:Why? Why do you like summer ? S1 :because……
T:Then look at this table and pictures (four seasons) Spring warm Fly kites Summer hot Go swimming…. Fall cool Climb hills Winter cold Make snowmen T:When you discribe the season which you like, You can say My favorite is…… it’s good season for ,or it’s good time to ….we can/ I can… The teacher select one student who say no,and ask him or she T:Which season do you like best? S2:spring T:why? S2:…..
2.read and listen the 1a, and mark the points.(3mins) 3.read and listen the 3a. and mark the points (5mins) 4.learn a rhyme ,make the students remember the words (3mins) What can we do ,what can we do in the spring? We can go to the park and fly kites What can we do ,what can we do in the summer? We can play on the beach and go swimming. what can we do ,what can we
do in the autumn? We can play football on the ground and Climb hills What can we do, what can we do in the winter? We can see the white world and make snowmen.
Step 3 Practice (10 mins)
1.Do the listening 2a
2.Game:It’s turn you ask and answer: The teacher show the one picture of the season in ppt. After that ,ask first student a
question according to it. Then this students ask another student another question and let him answer it and ask others.
Step 4 Project(5mins)
1.Give a season a love letter, ask the students to list the ten reasons to like miss spring ,miss summer, miss autumn ,miss winter. Use this sentences and words: I like miss..because.. it can ….
Step 5 Homework
1. Do the workbook section B
2. Copy the words and points
3. Recite the passage Comments (Filled in immediately after the lesson).
