Cultural corner部分介绍了英语国家“small talk”

的一种较为成功的模式---AAA model. II.

学情分析:

学生对这项活动几乎不了解，通过学习本文，要求学生和中国的情况进行比较，学生在掌握small talk 相关知识的基础上，要求学生收集课内外small talk 中经常使用的表达并鼓励学生实现资源共享，编写一个供全班同学使用的小册子，并把这种模式合理的加以运用。

Greetings & Lead-in

T: Good morning/ afternoon everyone!

Ss: Good morning/ afternoon, Mrs, Mr, Miss….

Check the students’ homework. Then talk about social rules. T: You have different sorts of relationships with different people that you know. You

have different sorts of relationships with the people you live with, your family, your friends, workers & people you don’t know well. Then we have different social rules. This class we will read two passages about small talk & social rules in the UK from which we can learn more about social skills. Now please open your books at page 9. first look at the title “

The AAA”. Without reading the passage, can you guess the meaning? Or what do the three As stand for? Step2. Reading

Get the Ss to talk about the picture s and then read the passage to answer some questions.

Task 1.

Pre-reading

1. How does the AAA model work?

AAA= answer, add and ask

2. When does the AAA model work?

When two people don’t know each other very well, or don’t know each other at all,

they can use AAA model.

3. Is the AAA model a good idea while making small talk with someone you don’t know in China?

2. Imagine a situation where two strangers are talking to each other after someone they both know has left the room.

设想一下两个陌生人都认识的人离开房间之后他们互相交谈的情景。

where引导的定语从句, situation是先行词. situation, case, point, internet, stage等表示抽象地点的词作先行词时, 如果定语从句不缺少主要成分, 一般要用关系词where来引导。

e.g.

He has got himself into a dangerous situation where he is likely to lose control

over the plane.

他陷入一个危险的境地,飞机有可能失去控制。
