一、教材与学情分析

1、教材分析:在本单元,学生会学习一些描述物体颜色的词汇。本课的特点是在上一课学习了18个字母的基础上,进一步带领学生学习表示颜色的词语。以歌曲和游戏的方式激发学生的学习兴趣。

2、学情分析:三年级的学生,由于年龄小,又加上生性活泼好动,喜欢直观形象思维,对游戏、竞赛、画画特别感兴趣。三年级是小学生学习英语的基础阶段,这一阶段的重要任务在于激发并保持学生学习英语的兴趣。因此,在设计课堂教学活动时一定要根据学生的情况,采用灵活多样的教学方法来吸引学生的注意,努力营造玩中学、学中玩的教学情境。

二、教学目标

1、掌握字母Ss、Tt、Uu、Vv的大小写笔顺及其在四线三格中的位置;

2、正确听、说、读、用单词Orange,Brown,White,Black

3、能够正确运用句型What colour is it?

4、全面调动学生的积极性,让他们在游戏中快乐学习。

5、能够让同学们了解中西方交际语言的不同,在愉快的氛围中进行英语学习,激发学生学习英语的兴趣。

三、教学重难点

1、教学重点

Students will be able to recognize and write the letters “Ss, Tt, Uu, Vv”, as well as know how to pronounce these letters in words. 2、教学难点

Students will be able to aurally understand, orally use and recognize the following vocabulary: orange, brown, white, black. 四、课前准备

教师准备:Teaching powerpoint, flash cards, exercise paper. 学生准备:Preview the new words and the text in Lesson 11. 五、教学过程

Step 1: Greetings (Review the previous lessons.)

T: Good morning, class!

S: Good morning, Miss Liu.

T: What’s your name? (ask different students)

S: My name is …

Step 2: Revision of letters from Aa to Rr (Review the letters the students have learnt.)

T: Do you remember a song we have learnt before? The “ABC song”. S: Yes.

T: Ok. Now let’s listen to the “ABC” song and sing with it. (Show the video of ABC song on the screen)

S: ABCDEFG,HIJKLMN…

T: You did a good job! I have flash cards with letters here. I want you to read the letters I show you. Look here, together please. …Excellent!

S: A,B,C,D…

Step 3: The study of new letters (To learn the new letters. The students should write the letters correctly.)

T: Last time we have learnt the letters Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, do you know which letters we will learn next? Ok, let’s see.

(Show the card with “Ss” to t he students, read it several times. Then write “Ss” on the blackboard while pronouncing it. Ask the students to write as the teacher does. The students should read as they are writing.)

S: (The students write the letters on their exercise books, while reading them.)

Step 4: The study of new words (The students can identify the words, they also should know the sound each letter pronounces in a word.) T: Now look here. (Point to the screen.) This is a school. There is a letter S in “school”. School, read afte r me please. School, school, Ss, school, Ss, school. (Let the students read line by line.)

T he same with the other three letters and words. (Pay attention to these sentences: This is tea. This is an umbrella. These are vegetables.) S: (The students read the words line by line and row by row, in different types.)

Step 5: A game (To consolidate the memory of the new words.) T: This time, I would like to tell the new words to the first students of each line, very quietly. After I say “go”, the first student sh ould quickly pass the word to the next one, then next, all the way to the last one. Let’s see which line can finish first. Then we shall clap hands for them. Understand? Ok, let’s play.

S: (The students play the game cheerfully.)

Step 6: Review (To review this lesson.)

T: Look at the paper I have just given you, there are some balloons, see? Please take out your markers, let’s colour them. Please colour “Uu” yellow. Please colour “vegetables” green…. Please colour “school” orange. (Lift up an orange marker.) Orange, orange. This is orange. Orange. (Point to something orange. Ask the students to follow me.)

S: (The students do the exercise according to the teacher’s command.)

T: Who can spell the word “orange” for me? Volunteer, please. You, please.

S: O-R-A-N-G-E.

T: Excellent! Let’s read together. Orange.(The same with the other three words “brown”, “black”, “white”.)

Step 7: The study of new phrase (To understand the command “point to”.)

T: I shall ask each line of students to read the words which I am poin ting to…. Next, take out your blue marker. Take out your yellow marker…. Point to your black marker. Point to, point to. (Speaking while doing the gesture.) Do you know “point to”? Point to, point to. Follow me, point to. (Speaking while writing the phrase on the blackboard.) T: Point to your orange marker, point to something black, point to something white, point to….

S: (Do as the teacher asks.)

Step 8: Chant the chant (Review the words of colour.)

T: There is a chant in this lesson, “the Colour Chant”. Let’s look at the video and slowly follow it.

T: Shall we chant together? ...

S: Follow the video and chant together.

Step 9: Summery

T: In this class, we have learnt the four new letters, S, T, U, V, the new words of colour, orange, brown, white, black, a phrase “point to”, I hope that every one of you has memorized them, and can use them fluently.

Step 10: Homework

T: Here comes the homework for today. The first one, copy the four letters “Ss”, “Tt”, “Uu”, “Vv” five times. The second one, teach your parents what you have learnt today, including the letters, the words of colour and the sentence structure.
