1.Analysis of teaching material(教材分析)

The English book is of Foreign Language Teaching and researching edition which is widely used in many cities in China. It consists of 12 modules with common and interesting topics that relates to middle school students’ life. This module is about body languages which is to help students know more about different body language in different countries and know how to do the gestures and express their opinions and feelings about this topic.

2.Analysis of the students(学情分析)

The students are from Jiangmen city, which is in the south of China. They have already understood some words or phrase about parts of the body and some ways to greet others. The topic of body languages has a lot to do with students’ life when they meet people from different country, so it’s very necessary for them to have more comprehension about it. Before class, I have asked my students to have some preparations so that they will involve in this lesson much easier.

3.Teaching aims(教学目标)：

(1).Knowledge objectives

Learn and practice the new words and expressions: bow, kiss, shake, shake hands, smile, British, German, Japanese, Russian, visitor, Russia, what, nod, head, hug, each, each other, India, together, Maori people, touch, nose, etc.

(2).Skill objectives

A. Be able to understand what is talked about in the conversation.

B. Be able to talk about the body language people use when they meet in some countries.

(3).Affection objectives

A. To know people in different countries have different body languages to say hello when they meet. B. To try to understand and respect the body languages in other countries (4).Important and difficult points：

A. Key points: To remember and use the new words and phrases and sentences about this

B. Difficult points: To know how to use some nouns and adjectives about country and phrases about body language correctly. 4.Teaching tools

Media instruments, PPT, white board 5.Teaching procedures Step 1:

Warming-up and lead-in: Greet students with a song If you are happy and you know it. Then ask students’

their names and do some body languages.(3mins) Step2:

Presentation.

Before listening (8mins): 1. Teacher ask students questions about the song: What do you do when you sing the song?

Students: Clap hands and stomp the feet.

Teacher: So we call the action?

Students: Body language.

Teacher: So today we are going to talk about body language. What body language do you know? 2. Teacher shows new words on PPT and asks students to read and remember. (before the class, students have done preparations for new words and phrases) 3.Finish activity 1 on page66 alone. 4.Finish activity 2 on page66 together. While listening (14mins): 1.Watch and answer: What countries can you find from the video? 2.Listen and write : Write down the body languages of different countries. 3.Listen and fill: Choose the correct words to fill the blanks.(page67) After listening (12mins): 1. Read and talk the dialogue: To understand some key points of the dialogue. 2.Group work:Show time: To make a conversation according to the example:

Work in groups. Get the secret notes then show the conversation.(五人一组，每组抽签拿到代表国籍的secret note，仿照范文，两人动作表演，其他组员用英语表达。）A possible example: A、B、C: Good morning, everyone! Welcome to our country. A：People in our countries are very friendly/nice/warm-hearted…B:When we meet each other , we always… Look!D and E: (To act out the body languages.)C:What country are we from and what’s our nationality?

Step3: Review and summarize.

To have a revision of the knowledge we have learnt today and then do a summary: When in Rome, do as the Romans do.入乡随俗

Step4:Homework (1min) 1.Make a mind map of the body language and then retell to partners. 2.Finish the exercises of the book.
