Teaching Plan The mystery of hibernation

一、教材分析

高中牛津教材的不同单元涉及不同的主题，本单元为自然世界，介绍了自然世界中的植物和动物，比较容易引发学生的兴趣。本课的主题是冬眠的秘密。

通过了解三种动物的不同方式，来理解动物们冬眠的奥秘

。进一步激发学生们要去关爱动物，保护动物赖以生存的环境。

本课单词并不多，也可以通过阅读来猜测出含义。老师希望通过一个课时的教学，通过引导学生运用综合的阅读技巧对课文内容有全面深入的理解，并能初步运用所学的词汇对文章有一个概括的描写。

二、学情分析

授课对象为高一学生，初步掌握一些阅读的方法和技巧。文章不是太难，所以是以读促写。帮助了解如何概括文章的大意，并能够表达自己的观点

Teaching objectives: I. knowledge objectives The students will be able to have a general idea of hibernation and write a summary on hibernation.

II. Competence objectives 1).Students will be able to locate specific information and compare the differences 2).Students will be able to guess the meanings of new words based on the context 3).Students will be able to write a summary on hibernation III. Affection objectives

Students will have a better understanding on hibernation and learn to care for animals and our environment.

Teaching aids: Multimedia Teaching procedures: I. Lead-in 1. Introduce the topics of the text by reviewing some factors about spiders Q1: What do farmers do in autumn for spiders? Q2: What probably do spiders do in the tent-like shelters?

S1:

They are resting/sleeping.

II: While-reading: 1: Ask and answer to understand the main idea of the passage. Q1: What do bats, frogs and bears have in common? Q2: What is hibernation? Q3: Why do some animals hibernate? 2: Find out the topic sentences of each paragraph. 3: Read and fill in the table to see how they hibernate differently. Animals Bats

4：To show a picture of Polar bear to let the students discuss why some polar bears are going hungry? What should we do? III. Post-reading 1: Ask the students to summarize the passage and state their opinions on hibernation. 2: Ask students to read out the summary and comment on how to revise it.
