Lead-in: Good morning, boys and girls. Today we will learn Lesson 19.

Well, look at me! Am I beautiful? Yes. So nice. Because we will study the festivals: New Year’s Day and Spring Festival. Here is a festival song. Happy New Year! Happy New Year to you…Can you sing? Stand up. Let’s sing together. 设计意图

2. Warming up: (1) Sing a song together.( Happy New Year.) (2) T：Do you know what festival it is? S: It’s New Year’s Day.(Read it one by one.)

3. Presentation and practice: (1) When is New Year’s Day?(Show the calendar of New Year’s Day) S: It’s on January 1st. (Show the phonetic symbol of January and learn this word.) So, the first day, January 1st is called New Year’s Day. (2) Show the cartoon calendar and pictures about the holiday of this festival. Learn the sentence: People have a holiday and they celebrate New Year’s Day. (3) Listen to the video. Read the paragraph in your group, and then talk about New Year’s Day. (4) Answer the question: 1.How many months are there in a year? Which is the first month? There are twelve months in a year.

January is the first month of the year.

Then next month is February.( Learn the word: “February”) So, February is the second month of the year. (5) What festival is in February? Show some pictures of Spring Festival: dumplings, rice cakes (in the south of China), paper cutting and lucky money. Then students can guess the festival. There is another name: Chinese New Year. Now people call it Chinese New Year. Show the calendar of 2015and 2017: Let’s the students know Spring Festival is usually in January or February.

(6) Show the eve of picture: What is the most important moment of Spring Festival? The eve of Spring Festival. What does your family do on the eve of this festival? S: Clean the house. Wear new clothes. Play firework and so on. Show the video of making dumplings and rice cakes. Practice these two sentences: People usually have dumplings. People in the south have rice cakes.( say the sentences in groups. If the student says right, the teacher will give

him/her a piece of rice cake.)

Do they enjoy the festival at home? Yes , they all enjoy the festival at home. (7) Show the cartoon calendar and video. (Help students to learn:
