Teaching aims:

1. Ss can master the six new words about farm animals “sheep, hen, lamb, cow, goat, horse”, and know their plural forms. 2. Ss can use the sentence “ What are they? They are … . How many … . ” freely in the situation. 3. Ss can know the actions and do them correctly. Focal points:

1. Master the six new words and the pronunciation of the words. 2. Use the sentences and do the actions correctly. Difficult points: The plural forms of the words about farm animals. Teaching preparation: Word cards, CAI.

Teaching procedures: Step 1 Warm-up 1. Greeting.

2. T: Boys and girls, today we’re going to learn “Unit 6 At a farm”. In this class we’ll have a race between Group 1 and Group 2 ( If you did a good job, you can get a star.). First let’s listen to a song “ Old Macdonald ”.

T: Old MacDonald had a farm, on that farm he had some ducks. Listen! What animal is it ?

S: Dog.

T: Yes, you’re right. It’s a dog. And this one?

S: It’s a cat.

T: Quite clever. Step 2 Presentation

T: Old MacDonald had a farm, and I have a farm, too. Today some new friends are coming to my farm. What are they? Let’s have a look. 1. T: Oh, this is a sheep, who knows what animal it is? S1: 绵羊。

T: Yeah, one sheep, two sheep,(three sheep, four sheep , they are sheep. Follow me: ↗sheep, ↘sheep. Show me your finger, please. S-h-e-e-p, sheep. /i:/

T: Look, the wool is too long, let’s shear a sheep. Then do it together. [Say and do.]

2. T: What is this?

S: It’s an egg. T: Where is egg from? Elicit the word “hen”.

T:Oh, what are they ? S: They are hens. /e/ T: Now, the hens are hungry, let’s feed the hens. 3. T: Do you like milk?

S: Yes, I do. T: Where is milk from?

S: It’s from the cow. T: Look! One cow, two cows, three cows. They’re cows.

5. T: Do you know what it is?

S: Rabbit?

T: Maybe. Let’s see. Oh, it’s a goat. /əu/ And they’re goats. (Follow it or T, then read group by group.) 6. T: Children, cay you guess: What is the goat’s baby?

T: The lamb is so cute. I want to hold it. Do it like me “ Hold a lamb ”, boys do it please, then girls please. Then together . T: Look, they’re lambs. They’re small goats. Step 3 Practice 1. T: Let’s see again. Follow the sound. Then T points to the words, have Ss. repeat. Next elicit Ss. to say the plural of the words.

2. Using the PPT, first T gives the model, then work in two groups:

A: What are they?

B: They are … . 3. Now take out your paper and look at it, choose two Ss read, let others listen and repeat the animal words. Let’s fill in the blanks. 4. Guessing game.

Present the pictures, have students listen and guess what animal they are.

5. Game: Look and guess.

Step 4 Consolidation
