Teaching contents:

words in Unit 1& Unit 2 in Grade 5.

Teaching difficult and important points:

the black body words

Teaching aims:

1.

Knowledge aims : the vocabularies of Unit 1& Unit 2 A.

Students can remember the black body words to read and write .

B.

Students can understand and express with the black body words freely. C.

Students can sort words and phrases. D.

Students can read and understand the other normal words.

Ability aims:

A.

To train students’ ability of memorizing words in many ways, such as syllable, the meaning . B.

To develop students’ abilities of English study : listening, speaking, reading and writing. 3.

Emotional aims:

A.

To get students to be interested in memorizing words and studying English. B. Build up students’ competition and cooperation to understand the importance of unity and friendship. C. To get students to live actively and protect the nature.

Teaching strategies:

Make the Students the real masters in class while I acts as a director;

Combine the words in two units into textual Knowledge ;

Create the story scene and make students do tasks to achieve teaching aims. (Task-Based

Step 1 Warming up

Listen to an English song《Hello,hello》. Let the students do the action while they are listening.(I’m sure children will love this song and get interested in class.)

Step 2

Presentation

a. Show the story scene “Forest trip with Xiong Er”. It is a story that students help Xiong Er(me) to look for Xiong Da and then send them home. Let students choose number in group to read information on the ticket. Then they give the correct answer to get their ticket. (After warming, the students are excited to start the trip. They have learned the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. At the same time, they are very happy to have their own group names and active to write it down on the tickets.

b. T: Spell your group name loudly , I’ll put it up for you!

Students show and spell their names (spring, summer, autumn and winter) in group, and I put four words on the blackboard. e.g. Spring, S-P-R-I-N-G, Spring!

Step3

Forest Trip

a.

Pick mushroom (Make letters into words)

There are many lovely mushroom with letters on. Xiong Er would like mushroom to make soup in home, So student should spell the correct words to pick them. I divide the words into many parts according to the syllables( e.g. ex-

er- ci- se ) It’s much easier for students to spell quickly.And it can also help students to memorize words by syllabifying. After spelling four assigned words, students can spell words freely with more letters in 2 mins. They write down the words on the papers and then we check together. More words, more mushroom!

b.

River crossing (Complete the phrases)

After picking mushroom, they find footprints of Xiong Da along the river. Students have to cross the river by place stones with incomplete phrases on. They help Xiong Er tell the whole phrases to move forward. If they can move step, they can get one mushroom from me --Xiong Er for thanks.

c.

Fix the bridge ( Listen to complete sentences with phrases)

The trip goes on! Suddenly we hear Xiong Da. I play the sound, and we know Xiong Da is on the island. In order to get on the island, we have to fix up the broken bridge. Students listen to Xiong Da carefully to fill in the blanks with correct phrases. This activity also provides practice in listening for prices.

d.

Happy to find Xiong Da (chant about phrases)

It’s a relaxing time in this step. The chant is about phrases they have learned. It’s from the text for unit 1. Students chant happily to increase their study interests. It is also the necessary scene of the story that they are happy to find Xiong Da.

e.

Help birds(classify phrases into different groups)

On the way home, we meet Guangtou Qiang. He is cutting trees, so the birds are lost, students will classify words to four houses( go, have, do, play) to help them go back home. The target of this step is to classify these important phrases and impress students in the mind.

f.

Pack honey(link words to sentences & passage reading ) Birds give honey to Xiong Brother as gifts. So students should help Xiong Brother pack honey glasses in order. This is a dialogue between Xiong Brother and birds. They are talking about their daily life and favorite season, but the words of four sentences are in disorder. To understand their conversation, Students should link these words to the correct sentences. Students can learn how to use the target words in their expressions. After finishing sentences, students should read the dialogue to answer two questions.

Q1:what's Xiong Da 's favorite season ? Why?

Q2 : What do they often do in spring ?

Why?

If students can answer two questions , they can make friends with Brother Xiong.

In this step, students not only learn how to make sentences with target words, but also practice reading skills. This dialogue is made according to the topic of unit1 and unit 2. It includes many normal words of these two units. Students can read and understand the other normal words in the dialogue, too. It’s a good step for revision of comprehensive words in two units.

Step4

let’s be friends (Write down a little composition about four seasons) Xiong Brother want students to introduce themselves to them. Students can write 3-5 sentences for their own group. It’s a little composition about four seasons. Students can practice the writing skill in this step. I’ll put up the four tickets with their writing and mushroom number. We check together by reading in group, and then count mushroom number for the class assessment.

Step5 Summary

Sing the song together -- the Four Seasons. The trips is over with a happy ending.
