What Do We Need for the Trip?
Good morning, everyone! I am NO.35. It’s my great honor to stand here to present my lesson. My topic is What Do We Need for the Trip? I will prepare it from 4 parts. Analysis of the Students, Analysis of the Teaching Material, Teaching &Learning Methods and the Teaching Procedure. First of all, I will talk about the students. From the horizontal level, the students in Grade 5 have learned English for several years, they can greet with each other freely, such as ‘‘Hello’’, ‘‘Hi’’,‘‘Good morning’’, they have the desire to express themselves, but their vocabulary is limited, so they need to enlarge their vocabulary. From the vertical level, some students are from cities and counties , they are good at expression in English. However, some students from rural areas are in poor of English, and they are lack of confidence, so we should give these student the chance to practice themselves in class, what’s more, the homework need to have different levels. Next, I will talk about the teaching material. This period is from Book5 Unit4 , HeBei Education Press. Lesson25 plays an important role in this unit, it is in preparation for Book6, it mainly tells us what we need to prepare for a trip. This topic is related to our daily life, the students are very interested in it, so it is helpful to improve their interests in learning English. According to the students and teaching material, I make the teaching aims as follows: the first is the aim of knowledge, learn and master the key vocabulary (tickets, clothes and jacket) and the target language(Pack my suitcase, What’s the
weather forecast?). The second is the aim of abilities, develop the students abilities of listening speaking and reading. The third is the aim of emotion, It’s to attract the students interests in learning English. Just as I have mentioned, the students have the desire to express themselves, but their vocabulary is limited, so the key point is how to master the new words, such as tickets, clothes, and jacket. The difficult point is how to understand the new sentence patterns such as ‘‘Pack my suitcase’’, ‘‘What’s the weather forecast?’’. As we all know, the main aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate the pupils’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and their sense of English language, so in this lesson I will use multi-media teaching method, situational teaching method, task-based teaching method. The students learn by pair-work and groupwork, the purpose is to develop the students’ abilities of cooperation and communication, in this part, the teacher is a guider, the students are the main body, the teacher leads the students to learn and master the key vocabulary , target language. In order to achieve the teaching aims, I make the teaching procedure as follows, it has 4 steps. Here I will stress step 3 and step 4. Step1 Warming-up,
1 Sing an English song to lead the students into an English world. 2 Free talk between the teacher and students about the clothes we have learned to review those words. Step2 Presentation, 1 Show real tickets and draw some clothes to lead the Students learn and master the new words.
2 Play words’game. Who is the NO.1 to read and spell the words. 3 Use multi-media to make the students understand the sentence patterns. 4 Play the audiotape, let the students listen and imitate the dialogue, pay attention to their pronounciation and intonation. Step3 Practice,
In order to develop the students’ cooperative ability, the students practice by pairs or groups. 1 Divide the students into two groups, one group ask, the other answer, then exchange, pay attention to their intonation and pronounciation. 2 Pair-work. The deskmates read and practice the dialogue (2minutes). Then role-play it out. Here I will give the students (from rural areas) the chance to show themselves, the purpose is to add their confidence in class and daily life. Step4 Consolidation, task-based method is used here, each group has a task. That is setting a situation, for example, we’ll go to Beijing, Shanghai or Dali ,What do we need for the trip? Then make a dialogue and role play it out, the students need to finish the task by using the key vocabulary and the target language, we’ll have a PK between different groups. The winner will get gifts.
Finally, I want to say something about the homework, our homework have 3 levels, different students can choose their homework according to their English levels.
