Unit4 Enjoying a Birthday Lesson 5. I want ten cakes.

I.Teaching aims:

i.Structure: -I want a balloon.

-I want an apple.

-I want some/many apples.

-I want some chicken.

ii.New words: tell a joke, mom, candle, map.

II.Teaching difficulties:

i.Spell and pronounce the words correctly.

ii.Use the structure”I want…”and”I want to…”to express wish and need.

III.Teaching aids:Tape, recorder and cards.

IV.Teaching methods: Speaking and listening. TPR.

V.Teaching steps:

i.Warm up:

1.Greetings.

2.Sing the birthday song.

ii.Lead up:

T:Today is my birthday. Look.What’s this?

Ss: Cake.

T:A birthday cake?

Ss:Yes.

T:This is a cake and six candles.(teach the new word “candle-candles”) So how old am I?

Ss:...

T:There are six candles,so I’m six.

T:This is not true.This is a joke.(teach the new

word”joke-tell a joke”)I tell a joke.

iii.Presentation:

Learn: I want…

1.T:Today is my birthday ,I want many presents.What do you want on your birthday party?

S1:I want an orange.What do you want,S2?

S2:I want a bag. What do you want,S3?

S3:I want some flower s./grapes/tomatoes…

S4:I want some chicken,/meat/juice… …etc.

Teach new words, show a picture and describe it.

T:The world is so big that I want to have a look.Guess what’s this?(Teach the new word”map”)

2. Play a game to practice the structure”I want…”

iv.Practise:

1.Team fight.To practice “I want a/an/some...”

2.Practice the listening.

Listen to the tape and finish the exercises.(teach the new word “mom=mum=mother”)

v.Consolidation: words and structure.”I want..”

T:I want a birthday party.Can we take a photo together? T&Ss: Say cheese.(Review :take a photo,say cheese)

vi.Homework. Tell this joke for your parents or your friends.
