Teaching Material: Story time

Aims and Demands:

Knowledge Goals:

i)After learning Ss can listen,say and read the words, “cinema”,"film", "exciting", "sign" and the phrase "eat popcorn".

ii) After learning Ss can read and understand the story.

Ability Goals:

i)After learning Ss can use the words and the phrases in real scene. ii)After learning Ss can retell the story with the help of the pictures. iii)Ss know some other signs.

Feeling Goal:

After learning Ss know they should keep clean and talk quietly in some public places.

Main and Difficult Points:

Main Point: i) Ss can master the words and phrases.

ii)Ss can understand and retell the story.

Difficult Points: i)Ss can flexibly use the words and phrases in real scene.

ii)Ss can retell the story.

Teaching Aids: Multi-media courseware, pictures, tape and tape recorder Teaching Procedures:

Step 1 Warm-up

1.Greetings.

2.Sing the song “ School days.”

Step 2 Preview

Talk about the lines of the song with Ss. Then lead in the place”cinema” from the place,”school”. Learn the word by the picture. Lead in the word” film” and learn it through the question, What can we do in the cinema? Then I say “I love the film.” and ask Ss” Do you love the film?” Ss answer.

Step 3 Presentation

1.Tell Ss that Zip and Zoom love the film, too. Let’s have a look. Show the first picture. Talk about the picture with Ss. Help Ss recall the word”gorilla”. Then conduct Ss to describe the gorilla.

2.Play the tape. Ss listen and try to say what they’ve heard. Then play the tape again. Ss look, listen and read after.

3.Ss in pairs read the dialogue. Then ask some pairs to read the dialogue.

4.Learn other dialogues in the similar ways and learn the new words when we meet them.

5.Play the tape . Have Ss look, listen and read the whole story.

6.Ss in pairs read the story. I walk along and help Ss who need help. Step 4 Consolidation and extension

1.Ask some pairs to read the story.

2.Show six pictures without dialogues.First choose a picture to make a dialogue as demonstration.

3. Have Ss in pairs try to retell the story according to the hints of the pictures.

4. Ask some pairs to retell the story.

5. Have Ss look at some other signs. Have them know how to say these signs in English.

Step 5 Summary

Make a summary about the class.

Step 6 Homework

1. Listen to the story and read the story.

2. Try to retell the story to your parents or friends.
