II Lesson Procedures Part 1: Lead-in Timing

Procedures

Use some pictures about small talk to lead in the topic. Inspire the students to think about the place and the time small talks happen. And （教学过程）

Part 3: While-reading Timing

14 minutes Step 1: Scanning and doing the exercise. Students scan through the passage and choose the write answer. They can hold the structure of the （教学过程）

passage. Step 2: Role-play. Invite two groups of students to come to the front to act out some low-risk conversation openers and listening skills. Step 3: Presentation. Get a student to make a presentation about social skills. It is an extension of the passage to learn more about the hobbies about time and flowers in some countries. （步骤1：略读文章，做七选五习题；步骤2：角色扮演，将文中合适的开场白演绎出来；步骤3：邀请一名学生做关于社交技巧的拓展演讲。）

Read and appreciate an e-mail from Alex. Here is an email from an English pen friend. The students read it paragraph by paragraph. And analyze the （教学过程）

Make a reply. The reply can be divided into three parts. Greeting, body （教学过程）

and ending. Greeting part is a reply to the beginning of the e-mail. It also includes transition, blessing and encouragement. Body part includes the main content of the reply. It answers which topic can be used as a safe beginner to Chinese. And the topics Chinese students like and dislike. And the ending shows a polite wish to the addressee.
