教材分析：

本单元的话题是朋友。通过本单元的学习，学生要能够向他人介绍自己的好朋友，对好友的性格和外貌特征进行描述。本课时是第一课时，教材通过John向妈妈介绍自己的新朋友张鹏的情景，让学生感知核心句型What’s his name? His name is Zhang Peng. He’s tall and strong.的语义及语用情景。学生在三年级下册第一单元曾接触过friend话题，能够简单地介绍This is my friend. 三年级下册第二单元学习过Who’s this man? He’s my father.等句型，认识人称代词he, she, it. 关于外貌特征的词汇，三年级下册学过描写动物的词汇tall, short, thin, fat, long, small, big及句型It’s short and fat.等。本节课的对话中，friendly，strong，his这三个词对于学生来说是新词。

学情分析：

四年级的学生对英语学习兴趣浓厚，具有词汇学习的能力，能积极参与课堂教学活动，表现欲望强烈。小组合作意识已经初步形成。就知识技能目标而言，人称代词的用法及正确区别what’s his name?和What’s her name?是教学的难点。

教学目标：

1、知识与技能目标：

1、能够在语境中理解生词his, friendly, strong的意思，并能正确发音；

2、能够在语境中理解人称代词he, she 和形容词性物主代词his, her. 2、过程与方法目标：

1、能够在图片和教师的帮助下理解对话大意；
